That was very bad defending by Mertesacker. There's no point tackling there and risking the red card. Just allow Costa to score. Now down to 10 for the whole match, 0-1 and Giroud out.
I still think Arsenal can come from behind. Chelsea are so careless regarding passing. They seem like they don't care if they lose or win.

Idk how you can say we don't care this match. We're playing with much more fire now. We're just cautious and rightfully so with Theo trying to run in behind Bran at will.

I'm glad we've made it to the half only down by one. If there's anything that can help now it'll be a chance regroup, possibly bring on Alexis, and try and escape with a point if we can.

Maybe it's just me but I see many of the defenders and midfield players being too soft. Everytime Arsenal has the ball I sense a goal chance is coming for them. Still it might be the whole playing style of Chelsea I don't like, so most probably my impression is wrong.

He makes slight contact, but even with zero contact it's still a textbook red because he clearly impeded the run. Even Arsenal fans online aren't arguing the card, that's how you know it's not even debatable.

Cesc should have had a penalty, was a clear body check on him by Koscielny. Hazard back on the field too, hoping we can kill the game off with a counter attack goal.

It's hard to be sure when the wind seems to be Chelsea's greatest enemy in the final third.

We're definitely capable of switching off and losing focus but outside of Flamini getting fwd there really hasn't been any threat.

How in the world was that not a penalty on Cesc?

So Arsenal is now closer to fourth than first. I guess based on their recent history that shouldn't surprise anybody.

How many 2v1 & 3v2s did my Blues screw up at the end? Could have easily put them away late

What I've seen, especially in the 2nd half, was 8 Chelsea players walking (except Costa and Oscar). They're on the counter attack and Hazard is walking, Remy is walking too!! Matic can't even make a 5m run. Every Arsenal ball in the box caused panic.

Remy was running, just not timing any of his runs. Hazard rarely runs to begin with. He likes the ball to be played at his feet.

IMO there was no need to bomb forward recklessly. Just sit behind the ball, smother Arsenal in tight spaces w/o fear of the aerial threat, and drive back across town with the points.

I admire Arsenal for playing aggressively with 10 men but as it the case with us, we seem to sit on 1 man advantages.

It's January 24. 3 points back. Not the worst position to be in. Tough loss but title race not over
