Re: The 2017-2018 EPL Discussion Thread
I can see Spurs losing this weekend but not because they choked but because Jose has a way to get his sides up for big games, even when they look terrible going into the game. I'd actually prefer United to be on fire and the favorites instead of coming off the embarrassment that happened last weekend.Current careers:

Currently, all 3 of Serie A, Bundesliga and La Liga are having internal discussions on adding fixtures for that week so they can start getting better TV deals.Comment

I know that's why they'll never get rid of it, we've discussed that before. That being said, it is patently ridiculous in today's game that they jam that extra game in there to make teams play on 1 day's rest. Really wish they'd cut that nonsense out.Comment

Between the Shaw and Alonso incidents, I don't see how anyone wouldn't want VAR, and that is just the past week.
And yet more than half the league voted against having it next season.Comment

Re: The 2017-2018 EPL Discussion Thread
Because it's implementation is historically awful. Basically looks like they've given a bunch of 60 year olds an iPad and asked them to find a wikipedia page. Reviews take forever to both implement and complete, and instead of giving one guy the power in a booth to take in multiple camera angles while the match continues we pause because people still have this nostalgic authoritarian view of the Match Official.Support Local Sports

Re: The 2017-2018 EPL Discussion Thread
Yeah, I feel like they do this in other sports too. When it goes to replay literally all that should happen is a guy up in a booth checks all angles and just makes the call himself. Instead there's a conversation, and the field official can just be like, "nah, It looks like I was probably wrong, but my call on the field was reasonable." There shouldn't have to be murder trial level burden of proof.Comment

And it's been reported that Man U is the ringleader of the no votes. Gee I wonder why.
Chelsea were also against it, which absolutely boggles my mind the way they've been screwed over in the past.

Implementation in England has been poor largely because they seem to be actively sabotaging it.Comment

I mean, most of the time, anything United are voting for we are voting against. We go against them in off-the-pitch matters more than Liverpool.Comment
