You mean the elevated Nigel de Jong kick that was a yellow card?

It's still not intentional though, if you watch the replays and watch Mane's face.

It's reckless and dangerous which is why the 3 match ban likely won't get overturned, but to get anything beyond that 3 matches it would have to be violent conduct with proven intent.

Yeah, you look at that picture, and sure, ban him for life or something. The pitfall of using a still shot to describe a sports play.

Wait, now we're using incorrect calls in the past to justify changing a correct call in the present?

I think using the still image is needed because it shows just how reckless and dangerous the challenge was. He didn't raise his foot to win a ball—he jumped off the ground with both feet, lead with studs showing, and collided into the face of another player. It doesn't matter if it was a keeper or a defender back there. The image shows the extent of Mane's recklessness, which is why there's nothing wrong with using it as further evidence to support the decision.

It's harsh because far more malicious challenges with studs going into knees and shins have been ignored in the last year (talking about you, Rojo), but it was a massive risk/reward scenario.

Matt Ritchie's incident was from yesterday and highlights, once again, that refereeing is totally inconsistent.

And what are you talking about he wasn't trying to win the ball. He got the ball before (or at the same time as) his face, lol.

I don't think anyone is justifying Mane's challenge or the card, just a few people arguing with the United fan who, shockingly of course, wants Liverpool's best player to receive a multi-month ban.

Ritchie should have seen red as well, it's just poor standards of refereeing and a big lack of consistency

I was referring to you mentioning that de Jong's kick was only a yellow.

We also have to remember that this is Mo, and if him and I aren't sniping back and forth about Man U/Liverpool at least once a week here or on Twitter, something is wrong.

My tongue was firmly planted into my cheek on that one.

Oh, ****, I thought the United fan mentioned was Leon.

                      Sorry, Leon.

LOL, it wasn't even Leon, it was Mo.

Had a solid cackle at the fact you automatically assumed it was Leon.

West Ham look so intense in this first 20 minutes of the game, Huddersfield just need to weather this storm, Hammers will cool off eventually.

I'd describe it more as Nicklas Bendtner level. The effort is there, but it lacks execution a lot of the time.
