I agree Wijnaldum was very good yesterday made both Ramsey and Xhaka look silly at times with his skill. He defended against Alexei Sanchez very good down the left hand side at times too. Didn't allow him much space to work with at all.

Another player I want to single out is Joe Gomez. Thought he had an excellent game down the right flank. Another great option to have at RB with T A-A and Clyne (does he even get back in the side?). Hopefully Gomez' injury problems are over.

      Isn't Gomez a CB usually?

Yes he is. A nice option to have where he could fill in at different positions and not look out of place.

Lol! I'm sorry, man. Just think, tho. Now they've got an extra week to get their "Wenger Out" planes ready to fly.

Just starting to get into soccer/football and was watching a segment on Rooney.
The commentator said that when he was first coming up, he was mentioned in the same breath as Messi and Ronaldo.
Experts believed that he would be just as good as those other two.

They made it sound like his career has been a tad disappointing because he never achieved those lofty expectations, but that he's been a very good player nonetheless.

English media are a hard crowd to please but I think Rooney was great for Man Utd when he was playing for Everton the hype was unbelievable though, awe I kind of miss that era the footy world was soooo different than it was now . Messi and Rooney almost have the similar failings with the international squad but at least Messi helped bring his team to a World Cup final.

Think of the English soccer media as Maple Leafs hockey media on steroids.

It didn't help the hype that he scored an absolute rocket of a goal at the end of a match against Arsenal that ended a crazy unbeaten streak they had going. Becoming the youngest goal scorer in EPL history in the process.

One way to recoup not having CL football is to sell a couple of players and not spend it on replacements.

                      Outstanding work, Arsenal.

I would've expected Liverpool to be more on the right side. Neat little graphic!

Oh, yes. I absolutely love things like this. Just for fun, here's some stats to accompany it sorted by possession.

I love how West Brom have the lowest passes per sequqnce, yet are dead center on the speed of those sequences. I can just hear Pulis shouting "not too fast...but not that slow...juuuust right" in training.

The transfer window will close on the Thursday before the season starting next year. Pretty dumb to go it alone. Exposes players with release clauses to be sold without the chance of replacing them. Hopefully the rest of the top leagues (actually mostly just La Liga) will follow suit.
