Just finished watching the game. I keep seeing Everton fans online saying stuff like "if you told me we'd get a point before the game started I'd be happy, yet here I am disappointed"

Lol? They parked the bus even against 10man City, while up a goal, and while just about every refereeing decision went their way. It's actually quite odd, City regularly seem to get boned by refs when they are playing Everton specifically. I remember a couple seasons ago where Coleman put in a straight red challenge on Sterling, 3 games in a row, none of which were even whistled.

For the amount of quality Everton have now, and especially the manager, that was an exceptionally negative approach.

Everton have a good one with Calvert-Lewin. Very versatile player. Played at Right wing back versus Stoke and played up top along with Rooney yesterday. He was man of the match for me.

Once they started to sit back and firmly park their bus all I could think was how they went from deserving three points to deserving nothing. They attempted to shut things down far too early.

They'll most likely once again finish comfortably in 7th, while not quite sniffing sixth, yet spent all that money.

Even with all the money Everton spent, I don't see them improving in the table from last season. The teams above them were that much better last year and they all improved.

TBH, I thought both red cards were terrible. Aguero sold Schneirdelin's in typical flopping fashion.

Koeman said in his presser that he would have been pleased with a point pre-match but after being up 1-0 at HT and a man up that he was not happy yet he set them up to sit back and counter.

I think it's more of an indictment on City though. I know it's only 2 matches in and they have to figure out their best XI but they looked a mess despite all the chances they created. Aguero & Jesus making the same runs. Jesus coming short and occupying the space where Silva excels at. Sane at LWB over Danillo. KDB in a holding role instead of a more advanced position. Pep tinkering at his finest.

I agree with you KG. Both red cards were bad calls. Aguero really sold the dive and even though it looked like he was touched, it wasn't nearly as bad as he made it.

I don't understand City. They had moments of looking amazing in pre-season and the first two matches but then they have moments where it looks like nobody knows where to go and they act like it is the first time they have played together. I think Aguero/Jesus will be a great combo once they play together more and figure out who goes where but Pep moving KDB makes no sense. He is one of the best play makers in the league and should be closer to the attack instead of playing so deep.

Schneirdelin's second yellow was deserved. He catches Aguero before he even touched the ball and then a second time while clearing it. Walker was the one who got hosed.

Everyone online and even pundits are going on about Aguero diving, yet nobody (except on here actually) is mentioning Calvert-Lewin going to the floor clutching his face even though Walker didn't touch his face. Same thing for Walker's first yellow, he doesn't actually touch Baines at all, and Baines sells the **** out of it.

Also, Aguero was terrible yesterday. Silva and Tintin were putting passes on diamond-lined platters and Aguero couldn't finish to save his life. Most of the time he couldn't even manage a shot, it's like he was trying to dribble it into the goal.

Schneiderlin definitely catches him but the contact was minimal and only looked bad because 1) Aguero sold it to high heaven and 2) Morgan's momentum makes him connect twice to Aguero's foot.

Aguero checks at the last second and knows the slide is coming. Maybe he knows he's already on a yellow, maybe he doesn't but he def was trying to incite a card-worthy reaction from a garbage ref and it worked.

don't get me wrong....if someone does that to me in my standing weekly game I'm probably swinging on them but it looked more dangerous than it actually was.

I agree there's not a LOT of contact, but he definitely gets him and he is running at nearly full speed.

Anyway, my biggest problem is that Calvert-Lewin pretending to get hit in the face is about ten times worse but it's being largely ignored.

For anyone who might have missed it, Sheffield United v Leicester will be on ESPN3 this afternoon. EFL Cup match. Not sure if any of the other matches will be aired anywhere, I did not see any TV listings.
Reviewing the weekend, I think Chelsea and United looked the best out of the top teams. Looking ahead at United's schedule, they might not drop points for a while.

Yeah such a disturbing trend. The kid that Wilshire pushed in their reserves match fell to the ground, paused to look at Jack, and then started clutching his face.

I did enjoy Kompany's body check on Cavert-Lewin. Taken right out of the old man guide to defending.
