    The 2017-2018 EPL Discussion Thread

With that tho you would have to think Martial gets the start next week?

Rashford is a speedster and he's getting in the right places and creating opportunities but his finishing is lacking in the last 2 games.

Plus watching the games I feel Rashford is better more in whereas Martial is better wide.

They'll adapt—Pochettino is too good of a manager to not help them overcome whatever about it throws them off.

I just love how it's all "memes" in regards to Spurs being Spurs and playing at Wembley, yet Spurs supporters bring up their home record being broken, and it just so happens when playing their first league game at Wembley.

I think the reason Spurs fans don't like the Wembley memes is because if you actually watch the match, you will know Wembley had nothing to do with the result. It's annoying listening to people mention the stadium over and over instead of actually talking about the match and what happened.

I know there are memes about every team and it's just something you have to deal with. My disappointment with seeing the memes on OS is that I was hoping OS would be above that. If I wanted all the memes, I'd stay on Reddit.

But back to the match, Chelsea looked like last years Chelsea. It seems whenever the media and everyone are against them, they are at their best.

Lost in all that nonsense is how good Harry Kane has become. He's had his way with our CBs for a while now but he turned Rudiger and Christensen like they were League One quality.

I know the goals have been consistent the last 3 years but there isn't a weakness in his game anymore. Ben Davies was pretty good too but you guys missed Walker's pace vs us.

Kane really is so good. Loads of talent and still so young

The issue is that Spurs have lost eight times at Wembley in their last eleven matches—that's why it gets brought up. This single match gets lost in the shuffle of the statistic, which to be honest, is something hard to ignore. To me the Wembley factor is less of a meme and more of an actual obstacle for the squad to overcome at this point (which they surely will).

I do understand the frustration of the single match being ignored, as no matter how Arsenal lose at Stoke, or what version of Stoke they lose to, the ongoing statistic takes center stage, regardless of the specifics of that match.

As for the actual match, I believe it showed how much Spurs are currently missing Walker and Rose. Jermaine Jenas did a great job on MOTD2 showing how the fullbacks did not used the space or chances they had to attack or put pressure on the Chelsea defense from wide positions.

Also, the day OS is above memes and gifs is the day I leave. We need some lightheartedness to balance out the serious discussion, even if it sometimes outweighs the serious discussion.

I have been really surprised with how well Kane has found ways to improve. He has gone from a goal scorer to someone who can create chances while continuing to improve his finishing.

The only thing missing from his game is defending, which isn't as important for a striker but some of his tackles have been extremely poor and one of these days he will get sent off because of it.

@krebstar I wouldn't want all the memes to disappear because it is obviously nice to have jokes. But I think OS is better at discussing the match then other sites and I hope it stays that way.
The debate about if Spurs are missing Walker and Rose, I think they are obviously missed but more Rose than Walker. This has been an issue for a few seasons with Spurs, they cannot break down teams that sit back and defend. Walker usually didn't provide much in the attack so I don't believe he would have been a game changer this weekend but I think Rose would have been if he was healthy.

It's amazing he hasn't been yet as he could have broken a leg last week.

Seems things have been smoothed over with Rose and he'll be back in the side once he's recovered. Not sure how likely it ever was that he was going to leave or be left out, though.

I don't think it was very likely he would ever leave, at least this window. If he's fit, he will play for sure as long as his head is in it. I think Poch and a lot of Spurs players agreed with the majority of the things Rose said, even a lot of the fans did. It was just the way he did it and the timing he did it that made everyone upset. And the Google comment, that did not sit well with Poch.
But I don't think he will miss any playing time because of his words. Once fit, he should be the starter again.

Wow, Pogba has really been impressive. He's using his physicality more and defenders haven't been able to deal with that. I've always liked what Matic brings to the table so that has helped out a ton.

Yes, both West Ham and Swansea stink. As Leon said though, these were the types of games we were drawing last season. It's truly refreshing to see us win comfortably and hoping this continues.

Pogba having an extra year in the league and having Matic at his side seems to have really helped him settle and go back to the dominating player he was at Juve. I am interested with United to see what they do against a tougher midfield and if Jose changes his tactics when they come up against top 6 teams.

What's going to happen with Diego Costa?

Just curious, as I certainly haven't missed having to watch his ridiculous behavior.

Doing everything he can at the moment to force a move to Atletico.

Main problem however is Atletico, not necessarily Costa. Atletico is trying to lowball Chelsea on the price. The only bid they've actually lodged as far as anyone can tell is 22m, which is obviously very low for a striker as good as Diego.

If Atletico would just offer us something even remotely reasonable he'd be gone in half a second.

Diego Costa has obviously proven to be a pretty good finisher at a high level, but his antics certainly aren't missed like you said. I was thinking yesterday how it's actually kind of tough to hate Chelsea with him being out of the mix. Haha. Of course every time I thought that, David Luiz would be shown flopping around on the ground.
