Nat Phillips was very solid tonight. Stick with him and Kabak for the rest of the season now. 3 clean sheets in a row for that pair.

Coady was running to get back (on an offside play that was close to be fair). As Salah put it in, Coady’s knee hit Patricio right in the side of his head and his head whiplashed into the ground real hard.

Is Mane playing like that all the time now?

He looked like he was trying his best to ruin every Liverpool attack.

Mane is real low on the list of players I’d criticize from that game actually. Yeah, he’s having finishing problems lately. At least he’s getting on the ball, taking on defenders and putting the ball into dangerous areas, and getting into the right positions. He started the move and assisted on the goal. And he can always be counted on the help on defense.

If you want to pick on a Liverpool player, it’s Thiago, who gave the ball away countless times on simple passes and is the worst midfielder in terms of tackling I’ve ever seen at Liverpool. I honestly don’t know why he has a guaranteed spot in the lineup at this point to be frank.

Salah is the one who deserves criticism out of any of the attacking players. Anywhere else it’s Robertson, whose standards have taken a huge dip as the season has gone on, probably due to how much he has actually played.

But Salah does very little if he doesn’t score and despite his record this season, he’s had a lot of games when he doesn’t score.

Yeah Thiago being as bad as he has been has been shocking considering how good he has been at Bayern for the last several years. He has always been a player who dives into tackles a lot but he has been getting it wrong a lot this season. New club and new league could be an excuse and also the injuries.

Whenever I've watched Liverpool and Thiago has played, he does seem to foul in poor positions, when it's not needed, or generally just seems not adept at doing so. My hunch was always that he's being asked to do something he's not as skilled at, experienced at, etc. Basically, not fitting into Liverpool's system very well, plus another year of playing on his body with a very limited offseason.

I, of course, wanted to look at the numbers, but they don't really say much, and it doesn't help that he's only made 15 appearances so far. Essentially, I wanted to see if he's attempting more tackles, committing more fouls, etc.

Also looked up his inaccurate short passes because why not.

                Liverpool: 20/21

                15 appearances
                Tackles Attempted: 3.6
                Tackles Won: 2.3
                Dribbled Past: 1.3
                Fouls: 2.2
                Yellow Cards: 4

                Inaccurate Short Passes: 6

                Bayern Munich: 19/20

                24 appearances
                Tackles Attempted: 2.8
                Tackles Won: 1.9
                Dribbled Past: 0.9
                Fouls: 1
                Yellow Cards: 7

                Inaccurate Short Passes: 5.3

                Bayern Munich: 18/19

                30 appearances
                Tackles Attempted: 3.7
                Tackles Won: 2.9
                Dribbled Past: 0.8
                Fouls: 1.7
                Yellow Cards: 5

                Inaccurate Short Passes: 5.3

I think for Thiago too, he wasn’t signed as a 6 but was put into that role once Fabinho moved into defence. He has looked much more comfortable with Fabinho holding as it allows him to play closer to his natural, offensive-minded game.

Fabinho makes a huge difference to how we play at both ends too. Sacrificed way too much until now.

Yeah, I can’t help but wonder if Klopp could do it all over whether he’d again chose to sacrifice his entire midfield to ‘save’ his defense. I assume not.

Looks like a "Catholic Church" type coverup is coming to light in the English FA.

                      Sad and disgusting.

The English FA did not do enough to protect children from pedophile coaches in an "institutional failure," an inquiry into sexual abuse has found.

Unfortunately, that has been a problem across all youth sports all across the world. You will see stories here and there every few years. The more recent ones I can recall involved Celtic FC and youth hockey in Canada. Youth sports presents such easy access for these monsters, and many organizations have a long way to go to move on from the "look the other way" attitude that has been prevalent for so long.

Obviously not going to get too deep into all of this because of the TOS, but as someone who has been effected by such things, a great starting place would simply be for adults to believe children's accusations, don't have to go gung ho, but all of my concerns being pushed away as I was "just a kid" sure didn't do anything to help anyone who came after.

Yeah this is one of those things that's pretty easy to change and would make a massive difference.

One of the biggest issues honestly is just that adults who do this often have lots of friends who just ignore what's happening even if it's pretty obvious.

Punishing people who help/ignore/downplay the problem would also go a long way to ensuring stuff like this gets dealt with swiftly, which should also act as a deterrence.

Quite often it's only the offender getting punished, but for repeat offenders to do what they do they HAVE to have some kind of help from others.

A lot of those measures are in effect with mandatory reporting by law. They should be extended to these sports organizations that aren’t already tied to organizations that are under those requirements. And even then you still get Michigan State kind of situations where hundreds of children and young adults are affected, and when the **** hits the fan everyone goes into CYA mode.

That has to be one of the worst if not worst performance by a PL club this season. Newcastle were disgraceful.
