I saw this earlier, but thought that had already been decided a few weeks ago?

I did see Germany electing to keep the 5. Interesting..

Ha, I've very much been out of the loop. Last I knew it was going to be five.

Whose smart idea was it to schedule UEFA Nations League matches the week before the season(s) start?

Some countries are still on the UK's quarantine list meaning if you have an international playing a UEFA NL match they have to quarantine for 14 days. Chelsea got Germany to send Kai to England before Germany's match with Switzerland. If he would have played he would have had to self-isolate for 14 days. Players like Werner and Rudiger who are "UK based" don't have to.

Mahrez and Laporte both tested + for COVID (asymptomatic too) meaning they'll have to isolate for 14 days but the FA threw them a bone anyway and let City start on the 21st instead of this upcoming weekend.

I think you mean whose smart idea was it to schedule the first week of the season right after the forever-established and usual international break

They had to back-date this season in the EPL because of the Euros. COVID basically cut a month off this year and they STILL had to scrap the winter break.

I feel like Fulham did a good job bringing in transfers two years ago, and we were relegated. So far this time around, the transfer activity has been even worse. This may be ugly for the Cottagers

I don't really have a problem with Fulham, they've always had far better appreciation for our american boys than basically any other english clubs and treated them well both during and after their time at the club.

If 'good job' means the quantity of players, yeah. Their approach to essentially blow up the team from the Championship never made sense to me—at all.

I thought they mixed in some good pieces that transfer window, but maybe you're right. They just didn't mesh well together. They definitely haven't blown anything up this time, haha. We added American Antonee Robinson which is exciting, but Tim Ream being a PL CB scares me to death. Our back line in general scares me, but we'll see how it goes!
