Re: The Transfer Thread
All of a sudden, I don't feel so bad about Kaká anymore lol.
ManU will suffer plenty from losing Ronaldo. Just my opinion, so I can obviously be wrong. They were discombobulated after Beckham left and before Cristiano developed in the player he is today. The way they play is centered around Ronaldo. Fergie needs to get that next budding superstar. Maybe it's Macheda, I dunno.
In the end, I think this deal is better for United than it is for Ronaldo. His attitude was becoming worse and worse on the pitch and I get the impression that he was beginning to think he was bigger than the club. Nani will now be able to develop into his own player instead of trying to be Ronaldo, Rooney and Berbatov will be able to play their more natural positions, and United now has the money to go out and add some quality depth to the squad.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo goes to a team that has no defense and it is not built around getting him the ball. The "free role" he had at United likely won't be waiting for him at Madrid. I think he will be successful, but I'm interested to see if he can generate the results he did while he was at United.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
What positions are these players gonna play at Madrid, who is gonna be sold, cause surely they all can't stay at Madrid.
Sneijder, Van de Vaart, Robben, Ronaldo, Higuan, Villa, Huntelaar, Diarra, Kaka, Ruud, and Raul.
As United fan I hope SAF has something the works already.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
Being a Man Utd fan the news that came through this morning was not welcome.
However, thinking about it - £80m is a huge sum of money, and if Ronaldo wasn't going to give 100% this coming season then maybe it's the right decision.
But now we have money to spend and spend we will. Valencia from Wigan looks like a good player and around players like Rooney, Carrick and Berbatov he should excel.
We will need a new dynamo, look towards the South American market, I've heard good things from a few players there - Franck Ribery and Karim Benzema have been mentioned, Joao Moutinho, possibly Glen Johnson - I do see us keeping hold of Carlos Tevez as well.

Re: The Transfer Thread
I think that United will actually be better off. Yes, losing your best player who is also one of the best players in the world is bad. But when you think of the number of players that were required to play out of position to accommodate his style and the hole he left along the right defensively, it's not so bad once you realize those problems will be corrected. Also, the difference between now and when Beckham left is that the team is much more talented than it was then.

Cristiano Ronaldo was United's X-factor. Just like Messi with Barca. Watch them work without them and both clubs look "meh". It's why I am actually alright with Kaká leaving Milan because Alexandre Pato has X-factor talent.

<!-- End Video -->The sexy Portuguese soccer star, who was just sold to Real Madrid for a record-breaking $131 million (£80 million; €93 million), has been vacationing in the United States — and was celebrating at hot celebrity hangout MyHouse in Hollywood when Paris Hilton arrived, sister Nicky in tow. Gossip rags claim Paris admitted to crushing on Ronaldo last year, so it's no surprise she made straight for his table, according to eyewitnesses.
Apparently, that was perfectly OK by the former Man U player, as the athlete was soon sharing drinks with the ladies — and swapping more than stories with Paris.
"Cristiano and Paris were all over each other swapping spit the entire night!" The Sun reports, via a source from X17Online.
"His table needed every waitress in the building to bring all the alcohol he was getting through to him. He spent in excess of $20,000 on champagne and drinks. He was having a great time."
$20,000 for bubbly is a mere drop in the champagne bucket for either celebrity given their respective fortunes. But the evening didn't end there.
Although the pair didn't leave together, News of the World reports that they again rendezvoused at Nicky Hilton's West Hollywood home. At around 3 a.m. the paps caught Ronaldo leaving two hours later, wearing a grin.
Apparently, it didn't take the heiress long to get over reality star Doug Reinhardt of "The Hills," whom she'd broken up with only the day before, via press release. Ronaldo, however, doesn't have rebounding as an excuse for the hookup — only questionable taste.

Re: The Transfer Thread
I agree that he has a tendency to disappear in big games. But scoring 25 goals in Serie A is pretty damn impressive."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

Re: The Transfer Thread
Ronaldo is going to be ridiculous in Spain. With all the room he will have to roam in La Liga. We will truly see who the best player in the world is next year.
I mean look at Arjen Robben for example. He looks like a world beater playing against the Spanish Clubs. But put him up against a more physical English team like Liverpool and he's nowhere to be found. And we all know that Ronaldo is a lot better player than Robben.
And sorry I just don't see how any Manchester United fan can say they're better off without Christiano Ronaldo. He was what made United's counter attack the best in the World."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

Re: The Transfer Thread
I can't argue the lack of scoring in the CL. Because there isn't one to be made. At the end of the day you couldn't go wrong with either, but I rate Zlatan slightly higher than Eto'o."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Give Zlatan service from Messi, Xavi and Iniesta instead of Stankovic, Muntari, and 49 year old Figo, and I somehow think his goal total would incerase.Comment
