He has a reputation for making brainless mistakes.

Maguire has a reputation for being English.

But really, put Mustafi in a different league in a squad which isn't using an incredibly high line and he'll do better. He won't become world-class, but he'll be less of a joke.

Idk even in those stats I can still tell Maguire is a better player. Mustafi commits TONS more fouls, and making more tackles isn't necessarily the sign of a good defender. If anything I'd say that Mustafi's high foul count and high tackle count probably work as a tandem.

I mean, being English has a value in the Premier League, the 4/8 rule still exists. Even moreso that we don't know what the rules might look like post Brexit. I don't think the "English tax" meme is without merit even if it is overblown.
