I think Greenwood is fine on either side tbh and as I said, there are so many games and competitions to play in. Depth is a must. Having said that, getting a left footed centerback is pretty important along with two wingbacks. Shaw, while I love him, always finds a way to miss time and Williams looked so out of place on the left side as a right footed player.

Ferrán Torres to City looks close to done. In the neighborhood of $25 million with add-ons.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
This would just be a sidegrade, trading one "stepping stone club" for another. Not sure would actually be a good move on his part.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
Idk, Schalke is a bit of a meme in Germany, but they are a better team than Southampton pretty much objectively. He's also a guaranteed starter and one of their most important players.

Re: The Transfer Thread
I’m just still not sure it’s necessary. The Bundesliga is just about as physical as the PL, and his skill set would translate pretty well to just about any league. I think he could probably earn a bigger move than Southampton, that’s all.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
I think the most important thing for Wes at this point is consistent minutes, at a fairly consistent position/role no more Tedesco with him at RB/CM/AM/CF/CB, having him just replace Højbjerg would be perfect for him and Hasenhüttl/Southampton.
Also, I'd normally agree with Brahv's point, but I think a nice 18-month to 3 year stint at Southampton where he's pretty much guaranteed playing time is probably better for him. As I've said in other threads, I'm also just a fan of Hasenhüttl, so I am somewhat biased in that regard, but managerial consistency(If Soton didn't sack him after the 9-0, I think he's pretty safe barring an absolute catastrophe) and consistent minutes and I think at 23-24 he can make the move to a top club.Support Local Sports

Re: The Transfer Thread
Right now? I could be wrong, but it feels like Schalke has been a frustrating team for a long while. I think Southampton is more competently run but has a lesser chance at playing in Europe than Schalke.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
5-12 in the EPL is pretty tight so Soto's chances of making Europa League is pretty slim. Schalke has a much better shot at Europa through a Bundesliga finish.
But it begs the question...is it more important to play in Europe or play for a promising manager in a system that could further his development?
I think that's a question best answered by the player but selfishly speaking as a USMNT fan I'd rather him develop than play in Europa League.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
Yeah at the moment simply playing in the Prem can be good exposure for a player. At the same time lots of players have made the jump to a big club after a big performance in the CL/EL.
I’d say I probably agree though at this point, Schalke is too big a disaster. Hard to have a standout performance as a midfielder in a team like that, he arguably already has. Every time I watch Schalke he’s all over the place, the only one trying to do anything etc.Comment
