From what I have read about the way Jose wants to use him, he's basically going to sit in front of the back four and just defend only being asked to make short passes. Based on reports from Spurs insiders, Jose is wanting a central defender to sit back and let Lo Celso and Ndombele move forward without having to focus on coming back too much.

That's what killed Spurs this season. Winks, Dier, Sissoko, Skipp, and Lo Celso have been rotating as the defensive midfielder but none of them are actually good defenders (Winks used to be but dropped off a cliff).

Sounds like Hojbjerg is a good clubhouse guy, which Spurs can use right now. And he's only 23. For roughly 3m plus Walker-Peters, I think it is a low risk move to see if Jose can mold him into the defensive midfielder Spurs need.

He's 25, but he wears 23.

Is he actually a good defender, though? He doesn't have to be to sit in front of the defense and play simple passes, and he's only 6' or about 6'1. (Yes, I know, Makélélé was short as hell)

Seems more like a player Jose can get than a player Jose wants, but I don't know.

Højbjerg is an excellent "little things" player. I'd call his short passing fairly excellent, but his emergence as a shield for the centrebacks was part of Hasenhuttl, and Sotons resurgence. Hes one of those players that you only notice when they're missing as opposed to when they are playing.

You're right, I didn't know he wore 23 I thought that was his age for some reason. I know it's early days for Jose and the budget complaining will be coming but so far he has said all the right things about not having big funds.

I think it's a little of both. Player he wants out of the players he's able to get.

USA international Antonee Robinson is going to Sheffield Utd. Wigan accepted a £2m offer. If you recall he failed a medical with AC Milan back in January over a problem with his heart.

Left back Kostas Tsimikas is having a medical early this week for a possible £12M move from Olympiakos to Liverpool. Talks with Norwich over Jamal Lewis broke down, as they wanted double what Liverpool were willing to pay.

Dortmund are claiming Sancho is not going anywhere. At least for now.

Left back Kostas Tsimikas is having a medical early this week for a possible £12M move from Olympiakos to Liverpool. Talks with Norwich over Jamal Lewis broke down, as they wanted double what Liverpool were willing to pay.

Dortmund are claiming Sancho is not going anywhere. At least for now.

I read this morning that Man United have turned their attention towards Douglas Costa.

Sounds like Hojbjerg had his medical this morning and everything went as planned. The more I hear about him from Tottenham reporter's, the more I'm excited for the move. Sounds like Spurs wanted him in January but Southampton did not want to sell at that time. Jose picked him out early as a player he wanted.


The rest of Spurs transfers will have to be a "one out one in" if the player is not British since they are at their limit of non-British players.

Naaa

I think because of his age he knows that there will be a big move soon. There might some agent fees/% of transfer kept by the player that might factor in too.

Dortmund has a couple a youngsters that they need to slowly incorporate into the team. Birmingham legend Bellingham ha and a kid by the name of Moukoko who is going to be special.

He will be a good option for us. He almost scored a spectacular goal the other day against Wolves.
