Re: The Transfer Thread
Listen Spurs need a striker, and Arshavin is an attacking MF/hole player, as exhibited in Euro's and the fact that he has 3 goals in 19 matches this season. Spurs already have the most creative set of attacking mids in the Premiership, why add another one?
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Arshavin come to WHL, but Pavlyuchenko is the tall, physically imposing, target man we really need.Comment

Technically you still have a "physically imposing target man" and I hope you hold onto him for a little bit longer.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
Latest rumor has the Spurs Archavin deal back on, with Zenit reportedly willing to accept less then 20M for him.
Also, with Kompany moving to Citeh, they are willing to reopen the discussion for Vedran Corluka to Spurs, with was supposedly nearly a done deal a few weeks ago.
And to top it off, I know it's all rumor at this point, but Miguel Veloso is close to completing a move to Spurs. He'd most certainly be the holding/defensive/ball winning MF we're lacking currently.
-------------------------MY THOUGHTS-----------------------------------
Where will all these MF'ers play if these deals go down? Where would Arshavin fit with Jenas, Giovani, Lennon, Bentley, Modric & Huddlestone....then mix in Veloso?? Where will they all play?
Corluka is a RB now, but Hutton should be Spurs first choice at RB when fit. So that means he provides coverage at CB (which we desperately need) and Defensive MF? Where does Zakora go (who cares truthfully)?Comment

Talk about buying players for the sake of buying them. I guess thats why the Spurs are the Spurs."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

I had no place for Lennon, and I doubt we'll use 5 defenders, but that'd be a solid lineup.Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
Easy...bench Jenas and keep Huddlestone as a sub...lock Bent up in a cage also. I'm a huge Corluka fan so I'd definitely put him in the starting XI. Maybe something like:
------Hutton------Corluka-----King-----Woodgate----Bale----
--------------Bentley----Modric----Veloso-------------------
----------------Gio----------Arshavin------------------------
--------------------Pavlyuchenko----------------------------
I had no place for Lennon, and I doubt we'll use 5 defenders, but that'd be a solid lineup.
I rate Corluka very highly also, and would love to see him join Spurs, we can find a way to utilize him somewhere.
I'd envision more of a 4-4-1-1 (tried to illustrate below) with Bentley & Modric out wide, Arshavin sitting in "the hole" behind Pavly, and Jenas being able to push up the middle with Veloso sitting deep.
Corluka then could interchange with Hutton, and fill in for Woody, Ledley & Dawson in the middle, or Veloso in MF.
-------Corluka-------King-------Woodgate-------Bale--------
-------------------Jenas------------Veloso------------------
----------Bentley--------------------------------Modric-----
----------------------------Arshavin------------------------
--------------------Pavlyuchenko----------------------------
BENCH that looks like this:
Gio (left side wing)
Lennon (right side wing/MF)
Bent (STRIKER...gah! - I like your idea of locking him in a cage somewhere)
Hutton
Huddlestone (DMF, CMF & CB in a pinch)
Dawson/Zakora/Gilberto/O'Hara/Assou-Ekotto
