It's against the rules (by FIFA?/UEFA?) to "tap-up" another club's players. Real Madrid did the same thing to Ronaldo when he was still at United.

But we all know that's certainly not the most famous case of a Spanish club doing it to a English club.

Vermaelen to Barca for £15m. United deal broke down after they refused a player swap.

I'll take it. He wants to leave so he can play, and that's a pretty damn good amount of money for him. Surely we'll get another CB now, if not two.

It's against the rules, but unfortunately never enforced.

maybe it's me, but pointing out a player has a release clause isnt dirty at all.

Why in the world hasn't anyone made a move on Reus? For 25m, that would be one of the biggest steals in recent history. I'm surprised we haven't seen Liverpool make any type of approach.

Yeah, I see nothing wrong with what I am sure is common knowledge in the world of upper-tier football management.

*shrug* I guess hating Bayern is the cool thing to do these days, though.

It's because they revealed the amount, or close to it. Plus, all the poaching Bayern has done to BVB.

If you want a player, you talk to the club, not the media.

10 times out 10, it's the player himself or his agent that reveal a buy out clause to the other clubs/media

Just about every agent will do that. That's pretty much accepted, they work for the players. This was a Bayern official talking, big difference.

Sounds like Villa is spending some money finally. A few days ago they signed Ally Cissokho and now they are on the verge of signing Carlos "The Rock" Sanchez, a midfielder from Elche (Colombia).

Not a bad summer for Villa, IMO, considering the restraints they had. If Sanchez can provide that defensive ability that they need in the midfield, that should secure Villa in the EPL again next season. Maybe even put them in the top part of the mid table, depending on how Benteke and others heal.
