Right now the leaderboard is misleading as you can have a golfer not showing up even if they are leading the tournament. It's annoying as you don't really know how you stand until you finish the round

2) For rounds 3-4 have the golfers tee times be based on score. Right now it is completely random: you can have the leader tee off first, somewhere in the middle, or last. Combine this with #1 above and you just never know how you are doing, even if you were leading going into round 4.

3) Make sure the cut line estimates are more accurate. Probably due to issue #1 above the cut line estimates given while you are playing are way off. It can show +7 when you are finishing your round and then immediately jump to -1 for example.

4) Only generate golfers of the same gender as your golf avatar. Right now both male and female golfers are generated and play on the PGA tour together which is just immersion breaking.

All of these fixes would greatly improve the game, and they should be almost trivial for the devs to patch these in.
Been waiting to hear more about the career before purchasing—hoping these can all be addressed.

Also really interested to know if events change at all after the first year, different courses, etc. I'm assuming they do not, but holding out hope.

Re: The Golf Club 2019 Impressions Thread

The following three things need to be fixed via patch ASAP and they've been mentioned by others as well...

1. The leaderboard needs to reflect the players who have yet to tee off. Right now it's almost as if you are shooting blind and have no idea what it would take you to win. You think you are leading and when you are done you realize there are 2 who've magically appeared on top of the leaderboard. Makes it downright frustrating and takes away from career mode. Maybe if the devs implemented couple of following changes, it would be better:
a) Show all the leaders on the leaderboard irrespective of tee times.
b) Let the leaders tee off together. It shouldn't happen that you are leading in the 1st round and once you complete the 2nd round, another group tees off. Quite bizarre TBH.

2. Cuts are way too random. They tell you that the cut is +4 just a couple of holes before completing the round, you end up with +1 hoping to do better in the subsequent round and all of a sudden get notified you didn't make the cut! I mean I can understand cut updating to +2 from +4 but the change right now can be quite drastic and all of a sudden. The cut projection is so out of whack that you end up paying no attention to it after a while.

3. The rollout on the green from approach or Pitch shots is a bit too much. Occasionally you see the ball continually run up the hill and not stop for quite a while. Slight tweak is in order IMO.

There's another thing which I want to touch upon and is more of a design thing and am raising it as this is my first foray into the TGC series...

I don't quite like the concept of distance/range mapped to the type of club. If I'm using a Beginner or Pro clubs I should not be penalised for distance/range. It should only impact control or accuracy coz if I can hit a 320 yard drive I should be able to do so using any club type. On a related topic, I do find this 2 level concept of difficulty a bit strange. You have the regular difficulty levels and then have this concept of "distance & accuracy/control" tied to clubs, which sort of makes it confusing. I say have one level of difficulty from Very Easy to Very Hard (add a couple more if you need to do so) but do away with Beginner, Pro and Master clubs. Have only one set of clubs as this looks like a gimmick more suited to arcade games like Everybody's Golf. IMO you already have the concept of handicap in golf to level the playing field across players with varying skill levels so why introduce the concept of different clubs as they seem to do the same thing.

Edit: As a solution to having multiple club types and associating range & control with the club types, I would prefer slider based difficulty settings where you have one generic set of golf clubs but can set your sliders for various aspects of gameplay, i.e. control, accuracy, friction/amount of rollout etc.

I really like the game. I like the swing too early and swing too late penalty's. The only thing that really bugs me about this game is they forgot that if your hitting a approach shot to the green with one of your wedges there should be some natural back spin. There is way too much roll out when hitting a approach shot to the green with this game. I should be able to have a wedged approach shot either stick or bounce then spin back. This game does not do that. I was a Sim Tiger Woods player. I use to love have a 120 yard approach shot to the green. Now I get one and just makes me shake my head how the ball just rolls out. Over all still a fun game tho.

Re: The Golf Club 2019 Impressions Thread

I like the game but right now there are a few things mentioned in this thread that need to be fixed and updated before I start a serious career or an offline society.
Because of the end of season release time I'm looking at putting the game on the shelf until spring. At that time hopefully with patches and more created course content the game will be in a much better and complete state.

I find the gameplay to be quite solid, so I will defiantly be playing it more however right now the game overall is beta quality.

This can't be an issue just with my wifi in the house, because every other device works fine, the PS4 works fine with other games going online, Netflix works fine. But TGC boots me offline every 4-5 minutes it seems.

Anyone else having this issue? Something similar? Because if this is a constant issue for the game, I'm getting a refund and moving on.
I hadn't until today, in the last half hour I've been disconnected twice. Hope it doesn't continue but we'll see...

The lack of spin needs to be addressed. I’m not saying we need last gen TW style spin, but an average weekend golfer can stick a 7 iron to a few feet. Messed around with this over the weekend. even the “very soft” green setting high iron shots roll off the green.

Parking lot greens have plagued this game from the beginning with TGC1. My largest complaint with this game besides the servers and the way they handle the leaderboards. Otherwise I thoroughly enjoy it.

I know the greens are fast and the ball rolls forever, but there really is a way around that kind of. What I have been doing is going up a club. So for example, if you need a 7 iron go to your 8 iron instead. You lay the shot up short and let it roll up there. Now of course you can't do that every time, but there are plenty of times you can do it.
