The AO Show
Oct. 17, 2008

The Washington Capitals and Ovechkin came to town last night and put on a great show for the Mellon Arena attendees. An Overtime game featuring 3 of the best players in the NHL, Ovechkin, Crosby, and Malkin.

All three found the score sheet last night, as Ovechkin scored twice, and Malkin and Crosby once each. Crosby's goal was the game winner in the Overtime period.

Scoring started with Sergei Gonchar getting a power play goal after Ovechkin was sent to the sin bin. Ovechkin had not one but 2 answers for his time in the box, giving the Capitals a 2-1 lead. This lead held until late in the third. With about 2 minutes to play, Geno found the back of the net for the Pens and we were headed to OT.

This time, the Pens found a way to win the OT when Crosby put the puck behind Theodore. Jagr was the first person there to celebrate as he set up Sid with a great pass.

Ovechkin talked with us about the way the Pens played him. "They were all over me. I touch the puck, and they hit me. I was interfered with a few times that were not called and they call me for a slash. I got the better by putting 2 shots behind him. We face them again, I will remember this."

The Penguins are sitting at 4-0-1 after this win, with a game against Toronto on Saturday.

Yeah he is. He is just beasting with goals and assists.

The Capitals game scared me going into it. Everytime I have played them in this game, I have allowed AO to score too much. And again, he scored twice. I was just glad that Malkin was able to score for me in the third. Some games the goals come easy, the others, they come hard.

Penguins Top Maple Leafs
Oct. 19, 2008

In a game against the Maple Leafs, the Penguins gave Marc-Andre Fleury a breather and allowed Dany Sabourin to start in net. And what a game he played. He was fantastic out there. He did not allow a goal until the game was 3-0 and was in hand.

The Penguins got goals from some unlikely players this game, as Kris Beech scored his first goal of the year and Matt Cooke grabbed his second. Beech is a 4th liner and doesn't put up many shots when he is out there.

Jagr found a way to record his fourth goal of the year and Petr Sykora ended up with an empty netter. The empty netter was an amusing goal to watch, as the Penguins attempted 6 shots before it was put in. Jagr had 2 chances, Sykora had 2 and Crosby had 2 attempts. Jagr's shots were blocked, Crosby missed the net once and the other was blocked, and Sykora missed the net.

The Maple Leafs could not get anything going on offense and their defense was not helping out either, as the Penguins controlled the game in their offensive zone for what seemed like the whole game.

Sabourin was on his way to a shut out when the Leafs got a lucky bounce and got a few rebounds before it was put in.

"[He] was in the right place at the right time," Crosby said about Antropov. "We just couldn't get to the puck and clear it. He showed heart out there, down 3-0, and never gave up. That is something they will build upon."

"I felt great out there. I know that [Fleury] is the starter, but I know that when they call upon me, I have to be ready and keep the team going. I wasn't thinking about the shut out, just the win." Sabourin said when asked if there was a chance that he could get more starts.

The Penguins travel to Boston tomorrow, then come home to face the Hurricanes, before heading on a 4 game road trip.

Re: Pittsburgh Penguins Dynasty (NHL 2009)

It was a close one for the first 2 periods. They had many good chances on my, but Sabourin came up big.
