PENGUINS ENTER PLAYOFFS WITH 5TH SEED

Led by Captain Sidney Crosby and rookie sensation Ryan Cooper, the Pittsburgh Penguins enter the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs with the 5th seed in the Eastern Conference with 44 wins and 97 points.

They will face the New York Rangers, the 4th seed with 47 wins and 101 points, both just falling behind the New Jersey Devils, who were the Eastern Conference champions with 52 wins and 109 points.

"Everything we went through during the season, we battled for one of these eight spots, but now that we're here, all of it doesn't matter, it all starts now" rookie Ryan Cooper said after an afternoon practise the day before Game 1 in New York.

Brenden Morrow of the Dallas Stars led the league in points, followed by Anze Kopitar of the Los Angeles Kings. Marc-Andre Fleury led the NHL in shutouts with 9.

Michael Cammaleri starred for the Pittsburgh Penguins, being put on a line with Alexei Ponikarovsky and Evgeni Malkin, being put down to the 2nd powerplay line while rookie Ryan Cooper plays with Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby.
