10/12/13 vs Philadelphia. Philly falls short in Detroit, 4-3 - We would take a quick lead of 3-0 in the first by goals from: G.Nyquist, T.Tatar and J.Ericsson. D.Helm would add yet another SH goal. That's when it got interesting. J.Voracek would answer back on the PP. W.Simmonds and C.Giroux would add two more in the 3rd before time ran out and. Howard the W, Emery the L. (Wings 5-0)

10/14/13 @ Boston. Detroit starts quick, goes down even quicker. Boston 3-1 - Helm got it started rather quick at 1:14 of the first. However, the Bruins would score three in a 7 minute span. Gustavsson the L, Rask the W. (Wings 5-1)

10/15/13 vs Columbus. The power play was the key to this game. All 3 goals in it were of the PP verity. Columbus wins 2-1 - Tyutin and Dubinsky for the Jackets and Kronwall for us. Bobrovsky the W, Howard the L. (Wings 5-2)

10/17/13 @ Colorado. We never stood a chance here. Avalanche 4-2 - The Avs jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first and never looked back. B.Smith would score late in the third to bring us within one only to have them score an empty-netter. Varlamov the W, Howard the L (Wings 5-3)

10/19/13 @ Seattle. Wing lose yet another. This time to Seattle 1-4 - Demarco Clark, Erat, Vrbata and Boedker would all score for the Warriors. Pavel would get one late. Smith the W, Howard the L (Wings 5-4)

10/21/13 vs San Jose. Detroit falls for a 5th straight, losing to the Sharks 2-3 in OT. Tyler Kennedy strikes quickly in the first for SJ. Pavel and Bertuzzi both net one in the 2nd only to have Jumbo Joe score at the 15:55 mark in the third to send it in OT. The 3:55 mark doomed the Wings as Patrick Marleau ends it. (Wings 5-5) Stalock the W, Gustavsson the L

10/23/13 vs Ottawa. The Wings snap the 5 game losing streak with a 4-1 win against Ottawa. Quick strikes were the key to the game today. Stephan Weiss gets his first of the year at the 4:41 mark in the first. Wings catch fire after that with goals by Abdelkader and Pavel just a minute apart. Jeff Cowen added his own just a minute after the Abdelkader and Datsyuk goal. (Wings 6-5) Anderson with the L, Howard the W.

10/26/13 vs New York Rangers. Back on track. Wings take a defensive battle against the Rangers winning 1-0. Franzen nets his first goal of the year, coming on the PP in the 2nd period. ABout time he gets one. (Wings 7-5) Lundqvist the L, Howard the W

10/31/13 @ Vancouver. Make it three in a row folks! Wings take this one in Vancouver 3-1 as Legwand, Datsyuk and Alfredsson score for the Red Wings and Alexander Burrows scores the lone 'Nucks goal. (Wings 8-5) Lack the L, Howard the W

Flyers clipped

The Philadelphia Flyers lose a impact player on their blue-line, as they lose defenseman L.Schenn for 7-8 weeks with post concussion syndrome

Also, The Ottawa Senators will be without center Jason Spezza for 6 weeks because of a broken foot he sustained attempting to block a shot.

11/1/13 @ Calgary. Wings go down in this one after they lose Jakub Kindl in the first, 2-5. American rookie Brandon Walker puts his Flames on the board first. Stephan Weiss would net his second on the year. Flames would then put up 4 unanswered goals. Dekeyser adds one of his own late. (Wings 8-6) Ramo the W, Gustavsson the L

11/2/13 @ Edmonton. Wings edge Edmonton 3-0 despite the loss of Kindl the day before. Bertuzzi, Franzen and Legwand all score for Detroit. (Wings 9-6). Howard the W, Fasth the L

11/4/13 @ Winnipeg. Wings take this one in Winnipeg 6-4, but lose an integral part of their offense. They lose young star Gustav Nyquist after a charge from Olli Jokinen who would receive a game misconduct for his hit. The game got out of hand after that as Alfredsson would also receive a game misconduct for checking from behind on Tobias Enstrom. Zetterberg nets a hat trick in this affair and Helm nets yet another shorty. (Wings 10-6) Howard the W, Pavelec the L

Nyquist out 3 months

Detroit, MI - The Detroit Red Wings will be without young LW, Gustav Nyquist for 3 months reports say. Nyquist was hit from behind in the Winnipeg game by Olli Jokinen. Jokinen received a game misconduct penalty for the play. The Wings get the worst of that play as Nyquist is suffering from post concussion syndrome.

Who will the Wings call up to take Gus' spot in the lineup? Could this be young Paul Coleman's opportunity to shine? Coleman has 6 goals and 6 assists in just 12 games. That's a point per game, all the while being a +1. He also has 53 penalty minutes. Perhaps it could be young RW, Tomas Jurco. Jurco has four goals and 6 assists in 12 games. He is a +3 on the year. Teemu Pulkkinen has five goals and four assists in those same 12 games. However, he's a -2 on the year.

Obvious choice seems to be Coleman, but will they let him get more seasoning down in Grand Rapids before they give him his shot?

Coleman gets the call!

With the injury to Gustav Nyquist, out 3 months with post concussion syndrome, there were some questions to whom would get the call up. The answer if young Power Forward, Paul Coleman. In 12 games in Grand Rapids, Coleman has 6 goals and 6 assists with a +1 rating. He also has 53 penalty minutes.

Coleman will take Nyquist's spot on the teams top line with Datsyuk and Franzen. Babcock cites the reason for this is to not disrupt the chemistry between the other three lines.

Reporter: Have you decided what number you'll wear?
Coleman: #24. For my idol, Bob Probert.
Reporter: That's a big deal for people around here. Probert is a icon.
Coleman: I know. He was always my favorite player, even though I am so young. I know I cant be Probert, nor would I want to be. I just want to honor him and do my best out there for my team.

Wings go down in OT again

Detroit, MI - Another overtime game, another overtime loss as they lose to Dallas 2-3 in OT. Miller got the scoring started at the 20:00 mark of the first... Yes that's right, the period was almost over. "There was just a mad scramble at the blue-line. I knew time was running out and put the puck on net. Went in." says Miller. Benn would notch his second of the game to end it in OT.

Reporter: This was you're first game. How'd it feel?
Coleman: Not bad. Felt good. Like home almost. It was a fantastic feeling playing along such great players and to hear my name in the opening lineup.

Coleman would play 18:37 minutes and be a +1. He had 1 shot and 2 hits in his debut.
