St. Louis Blues (4-7-0) @ San Jose Sharks (10-2-1)

Thursday November 6,2008
San Jose,CA
HP Pavilion

PREVIEW

San Jose,CA- The St.Louis Blues are coming to town tonight after a 2-1 victory over the Ducks. The Blues will look to snap the winning streak of the Sharks who are red hot rocking a 6 game winning streak. The Blues though will have their work cut out for them as they struggle on defense giving up 29 Goals this season.
The Blues will look to spoil the Sharks and pick up a win as they try to do something that only the Flyers have been able to do. Beat the Sharks and end their winning streak.

"The Blues are a good team. We can't overlook them." Said Sharks Captain Patrick Marleau.

"The Sharks are possibly playing the best hockey right now. We have to hit them hard with everything we got if we want to win." Blues Captain Eric Brewer stated.

"They're one of the best teams right now and we know it's gonna be a hard game going in. We have to be ready." Blues Alternate Barrett Jackman stated.

"We want to win this game and we know the challenge St. Louis is going to bring to us." Sharks star Alternate Joe Thornton stated.

It's gonna be a great battle for sure if St. Louis can match San Jose on the ice.

THINGS TO LOOK FOR

Sharks pound Blues 7-3 and extends winning streak to 7 Games! And secures #1 spot in Western Conference!

Thursday November 6,2008

RECAP

San Jose,CA- There's the saying of good news and better news. The good news is the Sharks win again to extend streak to 7 games. The better news is the Sharks are officially the #1 best team in the Western Conference. With a 2-1 loss to the Ducks last night, the Dallas Stars fall from the top spot to the #4 spot to make room for the red hot Sharks.
Taking advantage of a poor defensive team the Sharks abused the Blues like a red headed step child tonight inside the Shark Tank. Going into halftime with a 6-2 lead over the Blues, the Sharks showed us all first hand why they are more than just a "Cinderella" Story of 2008-2009.

"We talked about it before the season started. Our goal is more than just winning hockey games. Our goal is the Stanley Cup Championship." Todd McLellan stated. He's having a great first year as Coach and GM.

The Blues fail to snap the winning streak here tonight falling to 4 and 8 on the year so far. The Sharks winning 7 games now makes them more of a contender in the Western Conference come this summer.

The Blues 2 of their 3 goals were garbage rebounded goals off Boucher's pads. By the way St.Louis played tonight looked worse than a JV hockey Team. The Sharks just pounded on the Blues all over the ice as if the Sharks smelled blood.

"We came in here ready to play. We wanted to win more." Sharks Alternate Johnathan Cheechoo stated.

"It was a physical game and they deserved that win." Blues Captain Eric Brewer stated.

The Sharks continue their winning ways with excellent Goaltender Brian Boucher in the net. One has to wonder what the future holds for Evgeni Nabokov?

Dallas Stars (10-2-1) @ San Jose Sharks (11-2-1)

Saturday November 8,2008
San Jose,CA
HP Pavilion

PREVIEW

San Jose,CA- The San Jose Sharks and the Dallas Stars are set to do battle for the first time this season. If you remember, the last time these two teams met was in the Semi Finals last summer in which Dallas sent San Jose home in 6 games. Tonight the Sharks will look to avenge that loss if they can pick up a win against their Division Rivals here tonight. The Stars are highly capable of snapping the win streak of the Sharks.
The Sharks are looking for redemption here tonight and a win over Dallas would be nothing short of bittersweet for Joe Thornton and company. Expect to see high fast paced hockey when the puck drops tonight.

"We've had this game in our minds for awhile now. We're really looking forward to it." Sharks Alternate Joe Thornton said.

"We're aware of our history and we're in the same division. Tonight we send them home to Dallas with a loss. That's our goal." Sharks Captain Patrick Marleau said.

The Stars will have to make due with the loss of Mike Modano who isn't scheduled to be back on the Dallas bench until January. The Stars have shown they are capable of winning hockey games regardless.

"We're ready for this game. If we win they will know we're the top team in the division right now." Sharks Rookie Brett Warren said.

No doubt that their is some bad blood between these two teams so expect to see as Jim Ross would say "A Slobberknocker!"

THINGS TO LOOK FOR

-Sharks on a winning streak

-First meeting between Sharks and Stars since Dallas knocked San Jose out of playoffs last year.

-Heated Division Rivals. Expect to see gloves being dropped.

-Modano is injured.

-Dallas with a great record at 10-2-1. This game is gonna be a shootout.

Brian Boucher and the Sharks shut out Dallas 4-0 to win 8th straight game!

Saturday November 8,2008

RECAP

San Jose,CA- In what was being hyped as a Western Conference Playoff preview between the Stars and Sharks proved anything but that as the Sharks shut out Dallas en route to their 8th straight win. The Sharks defeated the favored Dallas Stars 4-0 with great hockey and defense led by Goalie Brian Boucher who picked up his second shutout this season really proving to the NHL world he's a solid core in that San Jose Hockey team.
The Stars eliminated the Sharks from the Playoffs last year so it's only fitting that the San Jose Hockey team picked up the win here tonight. This marks the end of the Sharks 3 game home stretch as tomorrow night they're on the road in Arizona.
The Sharks have now won 8 straight games and showing no signs of letting up anytime soon.

"We really wanted this win considering how our season ended last year in the playoffs." Sharks Alternate Joe Thornton replied with a smile.

"We needed to win this game. It was our redemption." Sharks Captain Patrick Marleau stated.

The Dallas Stars were without Alternate Mike Modano who is still on the bench after pulling his groin a few weeks ago.

"It just sucks when your team loses a game and you can't do anything about it." Modano replied.

The Stars will lick their wounds tonight heading back to Texas but this game might of been a preview for a Stanley Cup Playoff Series considering the Stars are still playing red hot hockey rocking a 10-3-1 record.

"I wouldn't be surprised if we meet in the playoffs at some point." Sharks Milan Lucic who is in his first year with the club after being traded from Boston.

First year Head Coach and GM Todd McLellan has done a very awesome job with the Sharks Hockey team we're witnessing this season. But if the Sharks Cinderella story ends early in playoffs again, this year would be nothing but a waste.

"We're aware of our Playoffs history. We're in a new season right now and we're playing the best Hockey we've ever played. Our goal is the Stanley Cup Championship. We want it." McLellan stated in a press conference.

The Sharks Cinderella story continues with a 4-0 shutout victory over the Stars. The Sharks just might be the force to be reckoned with come playoff time.

Meh, 4-0 is a pretty normal score. I miss the 16-9 kind of games.

Just kidding. Good win.

NHL NETWORK

Sharks NEWS
November 9,2008

-The San Jose Sharks have called up Goaltender Dimitri Patzold from their Farm System today hours before the Team leaves for Phoenix,AZ for their showdown with the Coyotes.
With the move, this means struggling Goalie Evgeni Nabokov has been moved down to the system due to a rough year in which he is averaging 5 goals allowed per game.
Patzold will take the #2 spot behind Boucher who's playing LIGHTS OUT hockey this year in the new system of McLellan.

"I'm excited to be called up. I'm looking forward to learning a lot from Boucher." Patzold said in an interview.

"We just reached the time in our season where trading him wouldn't do anything for us. He's a great player just a bad year." Coach McLellan said.

Nabokov's Contract expires at the end of this season so it's unlikely San Jose will keep him.
