Bowman - "Thanks for sticking around after practice, this won't take too much time. We have made a trade with Anaheim this morning, we are sending Bryan Bickell, Trevor Daley, and our 2nd round draft pick in 2017 to the Ducks for Rickard Rakell, Hampus Lindholm, and their 3rd round pick in 2016."

Quenneville - "It was kind of a jolt to find out the news this morning, but I trust the organization is working towards the same goal as me, and the players. Rackell gives us a versatile player down the middle so that we can now move Shaw back to the wing, and Lindholm gives us a solid D-Man that we were going to look at in the offseason, but we jumped."

Quick breakdown of the deal:

For the Hawks this deal does a couple things, it helps the cap issues, it helps the current lineup, and make a pretty big statement about what the Hawks might want to do moving forward (possibly losing Seabrook).

The Ducks get older, but get better players in the situations where they need it, in the playoffs. Too many early exists, and they think that adding this talent plus a 2nd round pick could help things.

That's right, Daniel Sedin is no longer on the Canucks, what a big move made by the Flames as they seem to be pushing hard to return to the playoffs. There was another big name moved as well on a relatively quiet deadline day.

A Sedin, and Jagr both dealt on deadline day, two teams in the West just got better. The Hawks decided to stand pat, and have acquired some talent from within as they have recalled Jeremy Morin from Rockford, and he will take up residence on the Jonathan Toews line on the left side.
