SHARKS make statement win with 5-1 victory over BLUE JACKETS...

San Jose, CA- After an inconsistent October, the San Jose Sharks(6-5-2) have appeared to have found some rhythm with a 5-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets(6-6) on home ice.

"We needed a win to get some momentum going for us." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer said.

But it was a chess match to get there as Columbus(6-6) took a 1-0 lead off Matt Duchene's slapshot past Martin Jones.

But in the third period San Jose(6-5-2) finally came alive after a month of frustration.

Rattling off 5 straight goals past Jackets Netminder Sergei Bobrovsky.

"The first one went in then it just kind of snowballed after that. San Jose is a really tough team." Blue Jackets Head Coach John Tortorella stated.

San Jose got on the board with Rookie Tyler Adams 2 goals in the third. The Rookie is now leading the Sharks with 7 Goals and 3 Assists for 10 points.

Captain Joe Pavelski would follow with his first goal of the campaign.

"We've been in a little funk there in October and tonight was the first step to getting out." The Sharks Captain stated.

The Sharks will now prepare for the Philadelphia Flyers(5-7-1) on Saturday night inside the SAP Center.

San Jose beat Philly 3-0 back on October 9 in Philadelphia.

San Jose, CA- Rookie Goalie Joey Backstrom turned away 33 shots, Gustav Nyquist scored 2 Goals, and the San Jose Sharks(7-5-2) beat the Philadelphia Flyers(5-8-1) 5-2 on Saturday Night.

Philly struggled after tying the Game at 2 a piece in the first period over Rookie Goalie Joey Backstrom who got his first NHL start to give Martin Jones some rest.

But Backstrom still turned away 33 shots as he made life miserable for the Flyers inside the SAP Center.

"Him stepping in and doing what he did against the Flyers is truly remarkable." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

"My first game I was just trying to stay focused and ignore the butterflies in my stomach." Backstrom stated.

After allowing 2 Goals, San Jose shut down the Flyers and even denied them on 4 Powerplays allowing 0 Goals.

"Those are what killed us I think. Whenever you have a Powerplay chance you have to cash in. We didn't." Flyers Head Coach Dave Hakstol said.

Sharks Rookie Tyler Adams continues to make a case for Rookie of the Year picking up his 8th Goal and 4th assist this year.

Oskar Lindblom and Jakub Voracek both scored for Philadelphia but the Flyers wouldn't get anymore.

San Jose(7-5-2) will end it's 3 Game homestand Tuesday night against the Minnesota Wild(8-4-1)

San Jose, CA- Martin Jones turned away 20 shots as the San Jose Sharks(8-5-2) beat the Minnesota Wild Tuesday night. Timo Meier, Curtis Sawyer, Gustav Nyquist, Joe Pavelski, Marc Vlasic and Rookie James Carr all scored for the Sharks.

Minnesota(8-5-1) struggled against the Sharks high paced Offense as they could only get 20 shots on San Jose's Netminder Martin Jones who racked up his 3rd shutout.

"They have really great players and each one of them is a weapon. For us to shut them out like that is really amazing." Jones stated.

Timo Meier scored first as San Jose took a 1-0 lead. At the start of the 3rd Period after the Sharks took a 4-0 lead off Goalie Devan Dubnyk', Wild Head Coach Bruce Boudreau made a change opting to send in backup Alex Stalock.

But San Jose still continued their assault as they scored twice on Stalock.

"Felt good sending out Stalock but San Jose was just scoring at will it seemed like." Boudreau stated.

Rookie James Carr got his first Career Goal tonight as San Jose(8-5-2) won it's 3rd straight.

"You score goals as a kid but when you get your first one in the NHL especially in front of your fans it's a feeling that you can't explain." James Carr said.

Minnesota(8-5-1) was shut down on the Powerplay going 0/4.

"We gotta score on those. We blew our chances." Wild Head Coach Bruce Boudreau stated.

"We're playing very well. We had a little funk there early but we got past that and we're looking to keep winning Hockey games." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

The Sharks ARE playing well going 7-2-1 over their past 10 Games.

San Jose wraps up their 3 Game homestand and will head to Dallas and St. Louis before coming back to the SAP Center on November 11, Veterans Day with a matchup with the Calgary Flames.

The Sharks will meet the Dallas Stars(8-7) on Thursday night inside the American Airlines Center.

Dallas, TX- On a night where the Dallas Stars(8-8) honored Alternate Captain Jason Spezza with the Silver Stick, San Jose(9-5-2) came in and spoiled it handing Dallas their 4th straight loss while winning their 4th straight.

"We had our night ruined but honestly we can't blame anyone but ourselves." Stars Head Coach Jim Montgomery said. "We need to play much better and we didn't do that tonight."

Evander Kane, Rookie Curtis Sawyer, Rookie Tyler Adams, and Logan Couture all scored to keep their winning streak going as San Jose(9-5-2) continues its Offensive powerhouse. Goaltender Martin Jones stopped 20 shots as the Sharks beat the Stars 7-2.

Alexander Radulov and Tyler Pitlick scored twice to get Dallas(8-8) on the board beating Martin Jones for 2 goals.

"Let those 2 get by me but I was able to stay focused moving ahead." Jones stated.

Stars Goalie Ben Bishop struggled from the opening puck drop. Bishop allowed 4 Goals in the first period off just 15 shots.

He was benched afterwards. Backup Goalie Anton Khudobin took over between the pipes in the 2nd Period allowing 3 more goals on 31 shots.

"Tip your hat to him. He came in and gave them confidence while making us work. I think he did a very good job." Sharks Head Coach Pete DeBoer said.

San Jose's Rookies Curtis Sawyer(5 Goals, 4 Assists, 9 points) Tyler Adams(10 Goals, 5 Assists, 15 Points) James Carr(1 Goal) Justin Callahan (1 Goal, 2 Assists, 3 Points) and JJ Hart(2 Goals, 3 Assists, 5 Points) continue to contribute San Jose's epic hot start.

The Sharks(9-5-2) land in St. Louis tomorrow for a clash with the Blues(6-7) at the Enterprise Center.

St. Louis, MO- The San Jose Sharks(10-5-2) just might be the hottest Team in Hockey right now behind the Colorado Avalanche(14-2) and Chicago Blackhawks(11-6).

After a dismal October in which the Sharks were 5-5-2, they opened up November with a 5 game winning streak.

"We're playing great Hockey right now. We're scoring goals and winning games. The guys in this locker room have great chemistry on the ice and it's showing on the scoreboard. Very proud to be apart of this." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

The Sharks opened up with a Joe Pavelski hat trick and actually got some hats from Sharks fans inside the Enterprise Center.

"Great feeling to get that from our fans who travel with us." The Sharks Captain stated.

With the win tonight San Jose(10-5-2) is in first place in the Pacific Division one point ahead of the Anaheim Ducks.

SAN JOSE- After a inconsistent October in which the Sharks struggled, San Jose has risen to the top of the Pacific Division with a 5 Game winning streak and 22 points with a 10-5-2 record. During that time the Sharks have scored at will it seems like beating Teams like Minnesota, St. Louis, Dallas, Columbus, and Philadelphia.

Now on Sunday November 11, San Jose will open a 6 Game Homestand at the SAP Center against their Pacific Rivals, the Calgary Flames(9-7-1)

San Jose is 4-2-1 at home so far and will look to build upon that from motivation from within the Shark Tank.

Calgary will arrive on Sunday and the Flames currently sit in 3rd Place in the Pacific Division behind San Jose and Anaheim with 19 points.

Flames Head Coach Bill Peters has his Team looking good as Mark Giordano, Mikael Backlund, and Johnny Gaudreau all have 6 Goals with Goalie David Ritich(6-6).

Nashville(11-4-1) will then step on the ice inside the Shark Tank. The Sharks defeated Nashville 4-2 on October 23 in Nashville.
The Predators have some weapons as Kyle Turris(7 Goals) Roman Josi(2 Goals) Filip Forsberg(5 Goals) Ryan Johansen(6 Goals) Rookie Robbie Booth leads with 7 Goals. Lets not forget PK Subban(1 Goal) and Goaltender Pekka Rinne(10-4-1) can give any club fits.

Head Coach Peter Laviolette knows what it takes to win given he won his first Stanley Cup with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006.

On Thursday November 15, the Sharks will welcome a former Franchise Face in Patrick Marleau as the Toronto Maple Leafs(9-7-1) come to California. Goalie Frederik Andersen(8-5-1) leads the way as Marleau(2 Goals) at 39 years old hopes to bring Toronto a Stanley Cup. The Leafs sit in second place behind Boston(11-4-1) with 19 points in the Atlantic Division. Auston Matthews and John Tavares lead with 7 Goals a piece.

On Saturday the St. Louis Blues will come to town who the Sharks just beat on Friday.

San Jose will wrap up their homestand against Canadian Rivals, Edmonton Oilers(6-7-3) and Vancouver Canucks(8-10)

San Jose would love to get a victory over the Oilers as the man behind the bench is former Sharks Head Coach Todd McLellan. San Jose would love to get a W against their former Coach.

The Oilers have arguably the best Player in the League today in Connor McDavid(5 Goals) and he's got some help. Russian Rookie Boris Kakko leads with 8 Goals. Edmonton also has a Stanley Cup Winner in Milan Lucic who helps lead the way. In the Net, Mikko Koskinen(5-3-3)

The Canucks are in a rough place at 8-10 but Goalie Jacob Markstrom(7-9) is still the backbone of that Blue Line. Gone are the days of Roberto Luongo and the Sedin Twins. Vancouver is in a rebuild under Head Coach Travis Green who took over in 2017 as the Canucks have missed the Playoffs the past 3 years.
