CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS to part ways with Jonathan Toews?

11/

CHICAGO- It's just a rumor but recent news out of the Windy City is that the Chicago Blackhawks are willing to part ways from longtime Captain Jonathan Toews.

Chicago won 3 Stanley Cups in 5 years earlier in the decade with their last one coming in 2015 over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Head Coach Joel Quenneville was quoted saying "It be a shame to get rid of Toews. He's the heart and soul of this Team. He helped us win 3 Championships."

The Blackhawks were eliminated in the first round of the 2016 Playoffs by the St. Louis Blues in 7 Games.

The next year they were swept by the Nashville Predators.

Chicago missed the Playoffs last year and longtime Franchise Player Patrick Sharp retired.

And now it seems that the Hawks may be looking to dump another valid piece of their Stanley Cup puzzle in Jonathan Toews. Should Toews leave the Windy City, Chicago will still have Corey Crawford and Patrick Kane as their core.

"I love it here in Chicago. We had success over the years but I understand it's a business decision. My heart is here." Toews stated.

"I can only confirm right now that I am interested in listening to offers for Jonathan Toews at this time. That is all." Blackhawks General Manager Stan Bowman stated.

Chicago is one of the best Teams in the Western Conference right now with a 8 game winning streak and a 12-6 record.

Toews has 4 Goals and 11 Assists.

Curtis Sawyer's Overtime Winner sends SHARKS to 6 straight Wins with a 2-1 OT Victory over FLAMES...

RECAP

San Jose, CA- Rocking a 5 game winning streak, the San Jose Sharks(11-5-2) kicked off a 6 game homestand inside the Shark Tank.

Calgary(9-7-2) were up to the challenge.

San Jose was scoring at will the past few games but the Flames came in and shut them down with Goalie Mike Smith turning away 36 shots.

Sharks Martin Jones turned away 25 shots and the score was 1-1 heading into Overtime.

Then an unsung hero stepped forward.

23 year old Rookie Curtis Sawyer blasted a slapshot in the first minute of Overtime past Smith for his first Game Winning Goal and his 6th Goal of his career.

He was then mauled by his Teammates as the San Jose Sharks(11-5-2) won their 6th straight game.

"You always dream about those kind of goals as a kid. But it was hands down possibly the greatest goal of my life so far." Curtis Sawyer stated.

"He's really contributed for us so far this year. All of the younger guys have really stepped up. I'm loving how this year is going so far but there's still a lot of hockey left." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

The Sharks continue their homestand against the red hot Nashville Predators(12-4-1) on Tuesday night.

BLUES with a little payback snaps SHARKS win streak with a 4-1 victory..

RECAP

San Jose, CA- The San Jose Sharks(13-6-2) 8 game winning streak is officially over thanks to a dominating performance by the St. Louis Blues(9-9).

"We were just not very good tonight. We played sloppy. Couldn't convert on the powerplay and just couldn't get anything going. Give St. Louis credit for absolutely just owning us tonight." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

Blues Goalie Jake Allen turned away 32 shots and Vladimier Tarasenko scored twice to lift the Blues over the Sharks inside the SAP Center.

"We kinda owed it to them. They came into our building and beat us so we wanted to return the favor." Blues Head Coach Mike Yeo stated.

Sharks Goalie Martin Jones stopped 29 shots and allowed 4 goals as the Blues just crashed the net.

"Rough game. We just didn't have it tonight. We were winning games but just came out flat tonight." Martin Jones stated.

The Sharks avoided a shutout with 6:49 left in the third period with a slapshot by Rookie Tyler Adams.

His 11th of the year.

"I didn't want to go down without at least one goal." Joked Adams.

The Blues(9-9) got some payback on the Sharks as Mike Yeo's Team will not see San Jose(13-6-2) again until March 9 in St. Louis.

Edmonton(8-9-3) will play the Sharks on Tuesday night with former Sharks Head Coach Todd McLellan returning to San Jose.

OILERS knock off SHARKS in Overtime 2-1 as McLellan gets best of former club.

RECAP

San Jose, CA- Edmonton's Head Coach Todd McLellan is no stranger to the San Jose Sharks.

The Oilers Head Coach spent 7 years behind the bench in San Jose before accepting the job for the Pacific Rivals, Edmonton.

Since leaving San Jose Todd McLellan appears to still own his former club. The Oilers knocked the Sharks out of the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs in six games in which McLellan was booed by the Sharks faithful.

Tonight was no different as the Sharks fans rained down boos at their former Coach.

"I understand the boos. I spent years there and I know how faithful the fans and the City are. We went in there and won a hockey game. Just how it goes." McLellan stated.

"We have some history with him especially since he's still in the Pacific Division. Always leaves a bad taste in our mouths everytime we lose to them." Sharks Head Coach Peter DeBoer stated.

The Oilers(9-9-3) got on the board in just 33 seconds with a rocket by Oilers Alternate Captain Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

The Sharks(13-6-3) tied it up as the second period came to a close with a Kevin LeBanc goal.

Then came overtime where Ryan Nugent-Hopkins shot the game winner to the dismay of the Shark Tank.

Sharks Goalie Martin Jones stopped 24 shots as the fast paced Oilers crashed the net as if was the Stanley Cup Playoffs back in 2017 all over again.

"It was one of those Playoff atmosphere games. Edmonton has some firepower for sure. They just got the best of me tonight." Sharks Goaltender Martin Jones stated.

Oilers netminder Mikko Koskinen turned away 31 shots and even stopped breakaways from Sharks Captain Joe Pavelski and alternate Evander Kane.

"We need to be better on those to give us some goals. We didn't execute tonight." Sharks Captain Joe Pavelski stated.

The Sharks(13-6-3) will wrap up their 6 game homestand on Friday night with the Vancouver Canucks(11-13) before heading to the desert to play Vegas.
