Well guys,

I said the only reason I made a draft/prospects roster last year was 'cause I was recovering from surgery and had a ton of time on my hands... which was true.

But, it seems I can't "wait" and just go with others' draft prospects rosters.

I learned a lot last year, most notably don't make all the prospects with ONE TEAM (i.e. the Cowboys...smh).

Anyway, last year I released it on 3/1 and this year I was shooting for 2/1, but I doubt I make that. I'm gonna' shoot for Valentine's Day... but, it'll definitely be out before the Combine.

Last year the initial release I believe had 276 prospects and ended up with around 340ish I think before the draft (before adding everyone after the draft and around 100 UDFA's). I'm not sure I'll make that many this year before waiting until the draft, but we'll see. My initial goal is 255 prospects.

I'm only done with 25 so far. The ratings will run from an 81 or so down to around a 64. I'm using the final regular season roster update from EA. Last year I used one that was released in the playoffs and manually edited each change from EA's final three updates... but, I won't be doing that this year 'cause the Wild Card roster update was RIDICULOUS.

The base roster has every player that was on a roster when the regular season ended as well as anyone added to a playoff roster that wasn't in the game. That's 16 players added that weren't in the game for EA's final regular season update. I may make around 5 more as a few guys who went on IR early in the season weren't put in the game. It also has all players that were signed to a reserve/future contract. Practice squad players not signed to a reserve/future contract were released.

I hope to stick with it and finish... and not quit lol.

Just giving you guys a heads up since I had quite a few messages asking if I was doing a prospects roster this year.

P.S. I use height, weight and OVR rankings based on info from the CBS Sports draft prospects page.


Update : Uploaded on 4/10 with 277 draft prospects in the free agent pool and 23 players added to rosters that weren't in the game. Transactions, jersey numbers and depth charts accurate through 4/10. Name of the file is 2016DRAFTHTOWN5933. Enjoy!

4/18 update. There are now 309 prospects in the FA pool. Over half of the prospects received ratings adjustments. Still need to look at "returners ratings" for return specialists. Transactions are current through 4/18 with today's upload. Enjoy!

Adjusted the ratings for the top ten or twelve returner prospects. Ready for the 28th!

As of the 4/22 update, there are now 316 prospects in the FA pool!

4/26.... transactions current and 317 prospects in the FA pool!

Thanks for the kind words, man.

Unfortunately, I've had some things come up that has kept me from getting into the prospects this year.

I've managed to keep up with the transactions, but I've only made it through 57 prospects.

I'm hoping I'll get into it like I thought I would before the draft. I'll let you guys know if I do.

I guess the free agency kicking off got me going a little bit again.

I'm up to 77 prospects, in addition to keeping up with all the transactions. While the jersey numbers may not be assigned, I also make sure no one has a retired number (pet peeve of mine lol).

In case anyone was wondering, my OVR ratings are based off of the CBS Draft Prospect Ratings. Initially, here is what my OVR rankings are going to be...

Hey Cowboys.... I know we've messaged about how we didn't like Thomas' draft roster, but I downloaded his latest tonight - for the first time in a LONG time.

Am I wrong or has he updated ratings to match what they were later in the year? Obviously, I still don't like how he moves players from different positions to "cover" where it's short (I'd rather make players that aren't in the game to cover that - I also messaged him last year explaining how he can release players at positions that give you the "below minimum requirement" message), but if he's either used a later edition of EA's update or updated players' ratings, I may just "fix his rosters" as opposed to continuing on with mine (I'm still only at 80 prospects).

I probably have 40 hours if not 50 left whereas if I just "fix" his roster it's between 10 and 20 hours.

I glanced at a few of his rookie ratings and they looked extremely similar to mine. I'm pretty particular about accessories, but eh... those can change from college to the NFL anyway.

Just getting some more opinions/thoughts.

I know I'll have to make quite a few players I don't believe he has in his roster that I do, but that's nowhere near the 180ish prospects I still need to create.

I would say whatever is easiest for you. Let's be real, you're the one making these rosters and has to put in the time and effort. Whatever you choice to do, everyone will be appreciative for it.

I would honestly do what is most convenient for you, because it can become overwhelming where as having more done already gives you more wiggle room to focus more on what you want, versus creating all these prospects and getting burnt out. Just my two cents

Ehh, with the time left, I'm still gonna' keep trying to roll with mine.

I have 17 guys created that were on rosters at the end of the season that aren't in his roster. And, depending on how old of a base roster he used, there's likely more.

I'm up to 100 prospects so I'm hoping I'll stick with it and have it done by the draft or the day after (that Sunday).

Will let you guys know if anything changes.
