Re: Incorrect Playoff Teams?

Divisional Record does not matter in the NFL a few years ago the 49ers won their division but missed the playoffs. Its the overall record. Top 6 teams get in.

Completely incorrect.

Not only does the team that wins their division get an automatic birth, they get one of the top four seeds and host the first game no matter what.

Going back to 2005 the Niners have only won the division in 2010 and 2011 and made the playoffs both times.

Yeah ummm no, you win your division you automatically are in the playoffs, and automatically host a game (with the top 2 division winners from each conference gaining a first round bye, and the 3 and 4 seeds hosting the 2 wildcard teams, 3 hosts 6 and 4 hosts 5)This year there is a good chance the winner of the NFC North will host a wildcard team that has a better record than they do.

In that scenario (Wild Card) the #1 tie-breaker is head-to-head.
If they did not play head-to-head it then goes to conference record.
If it's still tied? Well then it's a convoluted series of things I'd have to look up.

Division Record is only going to be a factor if he was tied for the Division lead. I'd imagine here either the Redskins beat them during the season, or had the better conference record....and the issue, as pointed out, is the winning percentages being incorrect making it a "tie" when it shouldn't be in the first place.
