Without video evidence, I tend to believe that many/most of these complaints are just frustrated hyperbole. Saying that something is "completely unstoppable this year" when the game hasn't even officially been released yet is a little silly.

Last year interceptions were unrealistic, too easy to pull off, and OP. Now people are trying to play the completely new WR/DB interaction system the same way that they played in years past, and they are rightfully being punished for it. Take a few things into account:

Elite WRs and jump-ball specialists are SUPPOSED to beat the (usually smaller) CB on these jump balls 1-on-1. That's why double coverage is so prevalent in real life, and now you actually have to incorporate it in-game. Also, CBs who are covering a deep WR almost NEVER go up for a contested INT attempt, as it is a low percentage play and they know they will more than likely lose that battle. Instead, the DB plays the receiver OR goes for the swat depending on the situation and ball placement.

The days of getting an easy INT on deep balls is over guys. Time for a dose of reality. Play the receiver or go for the swat, and you'll have MUCH more success.

In the words of Charles Barkley, "I'm turrable". I can't play defense worth a lick. Honestly, I've seen the CPU try to make those over the top passes with me. I time it right, press B, hold Y and make sure I adjust my defender. Sometimes it depends on how you adjust your defender when holding Y. I'd say 80% of the time I tip the ball. 10% of the time if the WR beats me and the QB puts it over the top, it's a catch. The other 10% it's double coverage. Again, I suck at defense but I don't see this being game breaking. Fade's are quite easy this year though.

Umm you can run:

Cover 4 (conservative call) this will give them time though and they'll probably hit a leaking running back. Lber will cover the middle of the field. I advise that you contain for the inevitable roll out.

Cover 2 man out of dime, this will ensure that your corners are properly aligned over each receiver. Control MLB and let the running back get his easy catch. I'd only run this d in third and long being that crosses etc will beat it.

Cover 6, will force the QB to make a tough throw up the seam. Does put one safety on an island. I recommend putting the cover 2 hard zone on the QB'S blind side being that they have to throw across their body.

Cover 0 blitz (aggressive) again I'd recommend this defence in 3rd and long situations. This won't allow for the vertical routes to develop. You can also play mind games with this as well by showing the same blitz look

Its pretty disheartening when people jump to conclusions but i suppose it is what it is. I understand playing the deep ball was way too easy on past maddens. Really i do. But thats not the issue im experiencing. Playing the receiver from my experience lets them catch the ball and just make the sure tackle afterwards. The problem mostly is that with the new passing mechanics you can force 1 on 1 jump ball situation everytime. Literally. And the DBs dont play crossing routes well at all this year.

The most common 4 verts people run is the one where the inside slot receiver runs the crossing route and the Hb runs an out to the sidelines. Vs man the crossing route will be open 10 out of 10 times. If you user that route because the way lbs cover rbs the hb route underneath is at least 10 yards. And unless you blitz the pass rush this year is so nerfed people average about 5+ seconds in the pocket.

VS any zone the seams are wide open where you can bullet a pass in the seam catch it before the safety can try to make a play on the ball. If anyone with madden for ps4 would love to help me with a vid so i could show what im talking about id love to do it.

Can't you match up WRs w/ better DBs in this year's Madden?

I wouldnt think that would be a problem if you can do thhis.

Re: Somthing needs to be done about 4 verts this year

I agree with you Dre. I have a feeling some of these comments are coming from guys who either haven't played the game or have been playing the CPU. The CPU is not the issue. Users throwing bombs 10 times a game and coming down with 80-90% of them is the issue.

I will say that the aggressive catch and WR/DB interactions are pretty balanced for the vast majority of the receivers. However, if you have a WR like Calvin Johnson or Herman Moore (Draft Champions) it is about 100% money. I had a guy complete 7-8 aggressive catches to Moore in one game and they were ALL either straight go routes or the inside route on four verts. Its awful.

And the reason guys don't play man coverage? Bc it doesn't work. You have a far better chance at a bad throw and picking it off in zone vs man. Man is a little better this year, but still far to easy to beat consistently. And bc we don't have matchups, you never know when they will line their star WR up in the slot against you #3 or #4 CB and burn them like toast in a frying pan.

Safety play is also atrocious on deep balls. They simply do not get enough depth and they often do not come over to help on these plays. I started out loving the game early on playing vs the CPU. But now after about 20 games of Draft Champions (and going 14-4), I am so frustrated with it. Its just so ridiculous to hold guys to 3rd and 8, 3rd and 12, 3rd and 15 and BOOM, launch it to Herman Moore or Calvin Johnson and get bailed out. Even with Chris Harris and Richard Sherman covering.

I can only hope that they figured this out in testing and have a Day 1 patch coming. If not, its going to be really hard for anyone with any kind of sim mindset to want to play H2H, MUT or Draft Champions. Its just complete garbage and not everyone has the game yet so all of the money play and cheat videos haven't really started.

Someone finally gets what im saying. Thank you majesty. The problem with 4 verts this year is that leaving any good receiver like Calvin Johnson or Julio one on one is suicide. Ok thats fine i understand that in real life its like that so it should somewhat translate over into the game. Gotcha. But you cant play 2 man under all game either. The corners and linebackers will get torched on deep crossing routes and outs vs man this year. And you cant zone because the seams are wide open.

Its the only play ive run into so far where theres like 0 counter to it. Literally you can find a high % chance pass with 4 verts vs any coverage this year. It shouldnt be that way.

Well 1 true "counter" (or significant help in the matter) is getting pressure on QB.
Any QB with all day will have success on the deeper routes etc..

That's why EA screwing up pass rush this year (from what I've read) is a big issue IMO.
