No offense taken, I've never played hc09 but understand it did a great job of all of the off the field aspects of the nfl. I never understood why they couldn't just port that into madden and combine the two games

Imagine how much more different the draft would be if they added personalities to players and the possibility of suspensions.

Say there's an extremely talented player with off field issues ala Dion Jordan. If there was any risk of the said player being suspended once he gets into the league, you'd probably shy away from him. It will probably make you more aware of his background. However, some such as Tyrann Mathieu can get past their troubles and become great. There should be a risk/reward scenario when choosing these types.

On the other side of the spectrum, high-character guys may be rated a little lower than the freak headcases, but he'll stay out of trouble and possibly blossom into the better player. However, said high-character players may not pan out as well as the headcase that becomes successful due to lesser athleticism/talent.

I'm pretty sure this has been said before but I really think it would be a good idea.

In Madden 16, you can take one of these players with off-field problems with the only limitation being slow development.

As awesome as this would be, I just don't ever see them implementing this, because I'd imagined this would be reflected by a character rating. I think that this wouldn't be a problem for fictional or created players, but could you imagine the hurt feelings from current NFL players when they look at that rating in madden.

Adam Jones would be like "What the H3LL? Why is my character rating at a 47, and Andy Dalton is a 92??!!"

Unless everyone started at a baseline 50 like they do confidence. And then based on how disciplined of a coach you are, it affects whether a players character will go up or down.

I mean look at the Bengals a few years ago. They had so many players get arrested, and yet there were some teams that would have maybe a couple in a year.

But I am with you. A players character is taken huge into consideration for drafting or free agency. There is a reason people were harsh on the Cowboys for signing Greg Hardy, or why no one is touching Ray Rice or Johnny Manziel.

i've been waiting for a while for them to add suspensions to the game and a "bust" factor.

a "bust" factor would be an unscoutable trait. after the first year, the player would just drop off. his ratings would plummet etc.

I agree with a few posters here...

A real, true expansion process. There could be 2 or 3 scenarios. Personally I would like a scenario where I could add 1 team per conference, basically using up all the available relocation cities. That would add 2 games a season, but we could drop 2 preseason games.

I don't care much for the practice system. I feel like it is too much work for too little reward.

Better fan interaction. If I am playing in London, there should be an Ole' Ole' Ole' chant going almost the whole time.

As an owner, I would love to be able to create my own coach.

I am in my third season of my cfm and I don’t think I have seen the digital Cam Newton yet and or many others that are rising stars in this league. I am not connected to this league at all. It is just a collection of single games strung together in a season where I don’t really know what is happening without great effort. I have to go check injuries every game, look at game stats and league stats and standings to know what’s happening. (which is incredibly cumbersome to do) Even in doing all of these things I have not seen many of the stars of this league catch a ball or throw a touchdown or whatever in three years. A halftime show covering out of town scores and maybe a highlight or two, in game updates, weekly wrap up show and score/out of game stat ticker would go a long way to making this game feel like you are in a living environment.
This. There has to be a story that is unfolding around me. To be honest, I loved the NCAA game as I could play for years with the same team. Some of that was because you are restocking your team, which does not happen in The NFL. But some of it was a personal connection to the team. I am an Eagles fan, but I have never been able to play more than three season with them, or any of team. I just start over, which is extremely boring. I played 30-35 seasons in total on NCAA each year, I may play a total of 5-6 in Madden.

You hit the nail on the head right there!

There is a lack of personal connection in madden that makes a mode lack life like CFM.

I am almost looking for CFM to be a story mode. One thing I loved about NCAA, is it did a better job of celebrating your past and accomplishments. It always bothered me how after each season in CFM, it is almost like it throws everything from the previous season away. You can't go back and see who even won the super bowl from the year before, or who won what awards. Something as simple as this:

Another thing to that I guess they are hitting on this year for Madden 17 is commentary and presentation.

And NCAA's use of stat ticker, halftime show, and ESPN license are what Madden users have been begging for since I can remember.

These are just a few ways to make madden feel like a living world for me.
