Random question but this year do we have the ability to assign player v player coverages?

I always hate seeing the WR1 in the slot going against my CB3 while my CB1 is on the edge covering their WR3

No, coverage assignments are not in the game this year. The devs said they tried, but couldn't get it to work correctly so it's not in M17.

Hit the 'Y' button to pull up coverage adjustments, then press 'right on the D-Pad' to base align. (Depending on the offensive formation sometimes this can mess up your alignment if you are blitzing - see more below)

Note:It is important to match up personnel, when in man and also when blitzing to prevent the 'cross-matches' you are referencing. If you see 3 WR set you need to at least choose a nickel package to get 3 DB's, 2 LB's and 2 S's on the field. Or vs 4WR use a dime defense to add a 4th DB and subtract a LB.

Most of the 'cross-match' issues are resolved by simply being in the right personnel on defense; because if you choose a 5, 6, or 7 man blitz from a base defense (4-3/3-4) vs a spread set (3-5 WR) the safeties will be forced to cover the slots as your LBs will be assigned to blitz. So if the offense is in a Trips set, Bunch, or has a slot receiver etc you will see that 'cross-match'.
