Thanks Eccentric, I have the 8500 series and it was the Sharpness setting. I had it at 60 and all of the players skin had dots on them which made the screen look grainy. I turned the Sharpness setting to 0 as recommended in a Calibration setting and the dots are gone. Thank god screwing around with sliders will drive one nuts enough without having to worry about TV settings.

Not to completely derail the topic, but depending on the TV, a sharpness setting of 0 turns off any artificial sharpness. It all depends on your eyes, but for rule of thumb is to set it anywhere from 0 to 20(On a 0-100 scale).
