Defensive Formation Subs

I'm just asking here because i'm at work and it's on my mind.

If i want to make a defensive formation sub to my Nickle formation, will that sub take effect for all the plays within Nickle, or do i have to go in and change each play individually?

I have given up on formation subs in CFM. It's bugged.

Whenever I have made a change-say to nickel, as you referenced- some goofy anomaly would pop up in game. A CB lined up at MLB or a LB lined up way outside where a CB should be. Then it's a major PITA to correct it via subs in the nanosecond you have to make a defensive play call in game.

Don't know if the latest patch would have fixed any of this, but I consider it useless as it stands.

I haven't had the referenced anomalies, but it is bugged for sure. When you are in the menus the formations are flipped, and sometimes the changed don't save, for me specifically (Nickel A-Gap) will not save the DE substitution.

As far as answering your question, you will have to make the changes, for each nickel FORMATION in your playbook.

Mine work fine except the play is flipped. Seems ea programmers need to have a meeting on the difference between left and right this year.

To answer the question proper:


IF formation subs worked as intended - if you make a change in say Nickel, it will only apply to that formation, not all Nickel formations. Same for "normal" fronts, you have to make changes for the different formations including over and under.


But agree with the other posters, FSs are as buggy as Dante's inferno! CB1+2 lining up at CB3+4, make a change at MLB and they appear at CB, not saving, flipping etc.


It's best to make a manually formation sub in game at the beginning of each game (if you are quick enough on the counter) than to bother with the madness that is CFM formation subs.
