It does and it doesn't stick/change depending on the situation:
- Using Existing Coach - Scheme & archetype changes will stick
- Using Created Coach - Scheme & archetype changes will stick
- CPU Owner hiring new coach - Scheme will change but archetypes will not (Coaching carousel bug)
- CPU Owner hiring existing coach - Scheme & archetype will change but if the team the coach left/fired from hires a created coach then the existing coach's scheme and archetypes will be on 2 different teams
- Existing owner hiring existing coach - Scheme & archetype will change and stick
- Existing owner hiring created/generated coach - Scheme can change but archetype wont change or stick
- Created Owner hiring existing coach - Scheme & archetype will change and stick
- Created Owner hiring generated coach - Scheme & archetype will be same from previous coach but can change and will stick
To combat the coaching carousel bug ruining CPU teams (3-4 scheme with 4-3 archetypes and vice versa) you have to do the following method and it will stick:
- Create a new character and select the new generated CPU coach of a team
- Go in to schemes and change the defensive playbook to any playbook that matches the defensive scheme archetypes (4-3, 3-4) and change the offensive playbook to a team that runs the same defensive scheme (so that the lineup introductions will show the right players.
- Change the offensive and defensive team schemes (zone run, attacking 4-3 etc) to match the existing archetypes and new playbooks. This can effect the CPU playcalling I believe. So you can vary up teams with new coaches.
- Retire the coach and the information changed should stick.
