Madden 18 Official Coach Mode Discussion

I'm with you. That alone will make me rethink buying the game. I did read in another thread that someone made this exact point about how now in M18, you have to control the defensive player right from the snap, and that they loved that new feature. Well, for us Coach Mode players (and we are a minority for sure), no, that actually sucks. So unless they patch this (and I doubt they will), it means you only get Coach Mode for offense.

I'm not entirely sure why they had to change this, unless it's a bug.

Coach Mode does not just mean Auto Passing, EA. lol

I, too, hope it's a bug and they will fix it, but we (us Coach Mode players) who care about this, have to make a stink about it in the "Bugs" thread early on to try and get it noticed.

In regards to the earlier post that says you have to choose a DL for Coach Mode, my assumption is the only reason it seems you need to pick a DL is because they are automatically engaged at the LOS, so it appears that the CPU is controlling the player. But to my earlier post on M17, I bet you dollars to donuts that if you carefully watch the line play, you will see that DL man NOT doing any special moves (e.g., Power Moves), just like in M17. This is just a guess since I don't have M18 yet, but I think it's a good guess!

Yea I was looking at this last night. They do engage the offensive lineman and try to get to the QB, but you're right...they don't do any Power or Finesse moves. So I'm forced to either change it to CPU v CPU for defense or take control of the weakest DLineman and just do the moves myself, which i'm pretty bad at by the way.

#this is why we play coach mode! we're coaches, not players!

I sent something to Clint about this..my wife and I are huge Coach Mode players and this could hurt..hope there is solution to this matter..side note how is everyone doing sliders this year for Coach Mode?

I was on the fence about purchasing this year because in addition to being a coach mode guy, I am big into presentation and franchise.

I was disappointed in the staleness of 17 and seems like 18 is about the same or slightly worse.

I downloaded updated rosters for 16 and I am going to roll with that.

I appreciate people's comments and I will be following the thread and if coach mode gets fixed, I will buy eventually.

Is Supersim still set up like last year with the slow speed option and broadcast camera? If so, I’m golden because that’s how I’ve been playing M17 of late. Since no coach is responsible for both sides of the ball I’ve been the HC/OC and watching my D via supersim slow speed in broadcast view.
