By any chance can you post that ratings sheet link again? It will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Madden 19 Ratings Spreadsheet

Started doing some roster analysis based on some different things and it is interesting looking at OVR distribution as a whole then looking at it based on "youth".

OVR Distribution
Spoiler

OVR Distribution Under 28
Spoiler

  • Interesting that the Seahawks have no one over 79 that is under 28.
  • Colts really are going to struggle in that AFC South which is dominated by youth.

Re: Madden 19 Ratings Spreadsheet

I went ahead and did a quick chart showing the projected starters at each Offensive Line position on each team and their run blocking and pass blocking grades. I then compared them against their positional peers and then also compared the unit averages for each rating against the other units in the league.

Note: I took some liberties to try and put out the best unit possible. That means sometimes a back up at one position was better than a starter at another so I assumed the average person would move them to that position and start them.

O Line Breakdown

Spoiler

Couple Notes
  • Cowboys and Eagles appear to have the best overall lines on average and it's not really close.
  • The Jets and the Seahawks lines are pretty awful as a unit and individually.
  • The Cardinals pass blocking is the worst of any unit, but a decent run blocking keeps them out of the bottom unit grades

Re: Madden 19 Ratings Spreadsheet

Very cool, Verts!

I have a question you may be able to answer.

I wonder how the default ratings for OL vs. DL stack up. Does one or the other unit appear to be rated more highly, on average across the league, or are they pretty well balanced?

Would be interesting to compare. I think I'm going to do secondaries next, but I may double back around and try to do D lines. The only issue with D lines is you have to determine 3-4 vs 4-3 as it effects which positions get pulled into the formulas.

Cool, thanks!

I think what I'm wondering is that I often feel when I start franchises that I have to draft all-new OL unless I'm using an elite unit because many of the "average" guys in the EA rosters have trouble blocking "average" guys on the DL and at LB with reasonable success rates. Some of that can be mitigated with sliders, but I've been wondering for a while if the general distribution of ratings like PBK for O and PMV/FMV for D (plus related ratings) is even or if it's skewed towards the defense.

If you get curious about this and pull some data, great, and if not, no sweat!
