It’d be cool to know where those cutoff points are, Tdawg. I’m not inclined to be hyperbolic about it, but I would have thought just a handful of guys would grade out that way.

It's actually viewable in game. When you go into edit players the scale is right there for you. So when the game drops we will be able to see and tweak to our hearts content.

Pure speculation on my part but I tend to be a glass is half full kind of guy.
Tuning has been redone with the ratings.

I always use the min/max ranges of several Draft Classes for each rating to establish the range.
After all, we want the draft to mean something.

My XB1 roster has
- most players fitting into (1) Archetype with those ratings Tiered according to the scale.
- some players are (2) Archetypes
- very few are (3+) Archetypes

There are two QB ratings that have more impact on gameplay for both AI/Usered QB than the 3 THA ratings.
- you can set them at “99” and these two will have a huge impact during gameplay.

1) THP/Throw Power
2) TUP/Throw Under Pressure - **the most impactful against throw ratings

If those are real and not placeholders that is awful. Why in the world would you have a ratings scale that goes to 100 if you're only going to use a range of 17 to go from the worst to the elite. Might as well just have a scale of 1 to 20 at this point. May lead to less complaining, honestly.

worth noting that picture tdawg posted is from editing a draft class. I haven't seen that same screen when editing players in franchise mode or anything else. and to the person above, hes editing a draft prospect and so thats why an 81-84 rating would be considered 'elite'.

Really good catch. I didn't even realize that and it makes more sense now with lower ratings being considered elite. Well then. Maybe it is the same as it always was then lol.

Re: Madden 19 Ratings Spreadsheet

Yea, I noticed that. My main issue is that the ranges are so small still. It's why so many players feel so similar. When nearly every QB in the game has 80+ for the majority of their ratings that matter it's no wonder all QBs perform the same user or cpu controlled unless you crank accuracy down to sub 20. It's why speed has always been killer because every player in each position is rated on a 15 point scale so the only difference is their foot speed.

Sure. A 95 vs an 80 shows some differences, but when most players are not 95 but are just 78 to 86 no one feels different. No one has a true strength or weakness.

I'm a big supporter of these ranges being much larger and it's why I'm doing my own rosters for my CFM. What I aim for is something where a top 3 LT is rated like 88 pass block, 82 run block, 84 strength. A guy in the top 8-10 will be around 78 pass block, 73 run block, 76 strength. A bottom 10 LT is going to be 66 pass block 67 run block, 72 strength.

Differences like that will make each player actually perform differently compared to now where the top LT is something like 94 pass block and the worst starter in the league is still usually above 80. 15-20 point difference is just too small from 1st to worst in my eyes. My example already has a 22 point difference just from a top 3 guy to a 20ish guy. My best LT may be an 86 overall and my worst may be a 63. At least then there will be differences and each player will have their strengths and weaknesses more pronounced.

The way EA rates and sets up their tiers right now will just lead to the majority of players being an 80 in their worst scheme and a 83 in their best. Most guys in the NFL are not all around like that. Spreading the tiers up and making strengths/weaknesses more pronounced will make most players fit into one archetype and be less all around players much like real life. That's the goal anyways.

Re: Madden 19 Ratings Spreadsheet

Hey guys, I updated the spreadsheet as I was missing a few players from each of the NFC West teams somehow. It is now fixed and every roster has 74 players.
