My dad started me young; my first Madden was 2001 for the PC/N64. Other kids were learning to tie their shoes while I was ballin’ with Damon Huard and Orande Gadsen. Good times.

Also, fun fact. I played Pop Warner against Tremaine Edmunds; he and I are from the same town in Virginia (Danville) and his dad, Ferrell, lived around the corner from my grandparents. Also played for Miami for a minute. Small world.

A large amount of the new music I discover actually comes from sports game soundtracks. The soundtracks in FIFA, Madden, and the Show are usually pretty diverse, and introduce me to numerous artists that I likely would have never found on my own. In fact, it's one of the things I look forward to when buying a new game. That being said, Madden 18 was the first time I ever muted the menu music. I don't know why they decided to go with 95% rap songs, and it looks like they're doing it again this year. It's really disappointing for me personally.

Another year, another terrible soundtrack. I haven't heard of most of these and I wouldn't mind if there was more variety and more songs. Playing through one franchise season and the soundtrack gets really old, really fast. Hopefully their promises of more music every month are kept but given the soundtracks of the last few years I expect more of the same, crap music all of one genre.
