Re: How's your Franchise going? - Madden 19 Edition

Dispatches from Duval

Week 11, 2019

Coming off the loss to the Panthers, Jacksonville traveled a short distance from home to Tampa Bay, where they took on the Bucs in a game they never relinquished control of. The Jags led, wire to wire, from beginning to end, as Kyler Murray threw incredibly efficiently and led the Jags up and down the field at will.

The big news of the game: the return of Kareem Hunt, who officially became eligible to play this week after being suspended for the first ten weeks of the regular season. Hunt's first game back was not an explosive one as the rust was evident for the former star back -- further, Hunt had to leave midway through the third with chest issues and later it was revealed he had broken ribs.

Hunt will not be back till Week 17, when he faces his former team, the Chiefs.

"Today's win was a team win, we came out and we fought, as a team -- everyone has to do their jobs in order to win, and that's the bottom line," Coach Tate stated after the game.

Week 12, 2019

The Jaguars were leading the AFC playoff race entering into their matchup with the Texans and left still leading thanks to a win. Houston started the game off slowly and, offensively, couldn't make the Jags pay when given decent field position or the one lone turnover of the game.

Kyler Murray had another outstanding day, both through the air and on the ground, as the leading candidate for rookie of the year torched Houston's defense. He and Dede Westbrook have become a powerful dynamic threat as Murray, much like he did at Oklahoma, is baffling NFL defenses with his speed and his ability to survive hits that would level other QBs. Despite his size, Murray has remained stout -- the Jags offensive line has given up more sacks this year than any other NFL team, but with two rookie tackles starting every game, that stat was expected.

"We still have a long way to go before we can celebrate anything," Coach Tate said after the game. "But this win, the way this team has been playing, it's going to pay off in a postseason berth -- that much I think is safe to say. That doesn't mean we coast the rest of the way, but it does mean we need to keep winning ... nothing is assured in this league."

Re: How's your Franchise going? - Madden 19 Edition

We lose 23-16 against the Rams in LA and now we are tied for the division lead at 6-4 with the Rams
who hold the tiebreaker winning 4 divisional games.

For the 2nd game in a row, Rosen did not throw for a TD and had 2 INT's. We have so many injures and cannot get a running game going. Our top WR Dixon gets hurt and is out for 4 weeks, that's a total of 8 injured players. The Rams had Gurley out and Goff was injured in the 2nd quarter but their backup QB killed us as well as their 3rd string RB had over 100 yards.

We have to get our chit together and get back to winning football. RB Matt Breida comes back next game at home vs the Seahawks who beat us earlier in Seattle. Good thing is, the Rams without Goff faces the 10-0 Houston Texans. Hopefully home cooking gets us back on track.

Our defense is horrible so I'm at wits end right now with this unit. I'm passing on resigning a few players so I can sign some defensive players in the offseason. We will focus on defense in the draft as well!

Re: How's your Franchise going? - Madden 19 Edition

Dispatches from Duval

Week 13, 2019

The Jags took another short trip down from their home base to take on the AFC East leading Dolphins -- with the Patriots 7-5 (and losing out on tiebreakers for playoff spots), the Dolphins and Bills are battling it out to be the division winner. But, on this day, the Dolphins offense was ill-equipped to outscore the Jags, who are top-5 in the NFL in scoring offense (despite being only 25th in passing).

Jacksonville and Miami came and both teams had the same idea -- run the ball. The Dolphins, behind Le'Veon Bell, accumulated massive amounts of yards on the ground but scored barely anything, only a touchdown in three of the four quarters. On the other side, Leonard Fournette and Carlos Hyde both ran all over Miami, while Kyler Murray punched the ball into the endzone twice. Murray continues to be one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the league and, according to a recent straw poll among NFL writers, is in the top-3 for MVP candidates.

"Proud of the win we got here today, proud of how far we've come," said Coach Steve Tate. "Ten wins is nothing to sneeze at, it's a mark of a good, consistent team ... we still have more to do, but I'm happy with how far we've come."

Re: How's your Franchise going? - Madden 19 Edition

Dispatches from Duval

Week 14

Jacksonville headed to Atlanta to face off against the Falcons and lost a close game, as Kyler Murray threw 2 INTs in the redzone and the Falcons capitalized with points both times -- add in blown field goals and poor special teams play, and the Jags magic formula for winning went away in a cloud of smoke.

Early in the game, it looked like the Falcons would be the ones to lose, as Matt Ryan threw two early INTs on the Atlanta side of the 50, but the Jags could only get one touchdown out of it -- the other was a missed field goal. Atlanta came out and dominated the Jags secondary threw the air, relentlessly picking on the corners as the pressure packages the Jags brought did little more than annoy Ryan.

"We had a chance at the end and we didn't get it done," said Coach Tate after the game. "You can't let good teams hang around, because in the end they'll hang you more often than not."

With the loss, the Jags fall to 10-3 and only have the 1st seed in the AFC thanks to a tiebreaker win over the Chargers.

Re: How's your Franchise going? - Madden 19 Edition

Dispatches from Duval

Week 15, 2019

Jacksonville welcomed Indianapolis to the sunshine state and promptly trounced the Colts, beginning to end, in the Jags most dominating performance of the year yet despite missing DeDe Westbrook, who had to leave the game early in the first with a dislocated elbow -- the Jags expect him back sometime in the playoffs, meaning they're without Kyler Murray's favorite slot weapon till then.

Despite that bad news, the Jags found plenty of willing receivers to go get the ball as Keenan Cole and rookie Hakeem Butler stepped up in a big way, hauling in multiple passes to convert third downs. Murray had another incredibly electric and efficient day, throwing for over 240 yards and a couple of TDs as his passing attack opened the way for runs from the battering ram that is Leonard Fournette.

"We played a complete game in every facet of it," said Coach Tate. "These are the types of ball games that show the best version of this team and I've seen it a few times the last month ... that bodes well for the postseason."

Re: How's your Franchise going? - Madden 19 Edition

Dispatches from Duval

Week 16, 2019

The Jags traveled up to Tennessee to take on the Titans and get a chance to avenge one of their three losses so far -- Jacksonville did just that, as they flattened the Titans in the second half, coming out with a vengeance after being tied 14 all going into halftime.

With a potential playoff spot on the line, Tennessee came out early and established Mariota, but didn't get any help from the ground game as Derrick Henry and Dion Lewis were largely ineffective. The same could not be said for the Jags ground game as Fournette, Murray, and Higdon combined for over 200 yards rushing -- demolishing the Titans defense and deflating them repeatedly.

"Satisfying win," said Coach Tate. "There are only a few better joys than knocking out a rival from the postseason ... we're going to savor this one for an extra day or so."

Are you freezing those playoff hunt screens and standings from pregame?
