Starting a CFM - how can I make it as realistic as possible?

I'm starting a CFM and want to make the experience/gameplay as realistic as possible.

Are there any sliders / house rules / things I can import to make it most realistic? Haven't played Madden in a while but I'd like a realistic experience.

Sliders are always going to be a user preference. You could play a handful of games and see what your main discrepancies are between your stats and what real football produces then alter sliders that way. You could try out a couple popular sets here and give them a go over a few games and see what adjustments you think need to made to fit your play.

Also, if you plan to play offline you can download the playbooks the community makes to help out the CPU.

House rules vary person to person. I try to limit myself to only do a lot of things the CPU does as well. I also don't switch on defense during the play to make my players' ratings matter more and I tend to try and play as the best LB on the team so that I am not elevating the play of some scrub. I know that the user tends to raise the play of the defender so I try to play as one of my best defenders and let that be how my "stars" on defense shine.

After that a lot is user preference, really.

Go to the slider forum and check out some of the sets in there. These will at least give you a good starting point, keep in mind everyone's style of play and skill level are different so you may need to make tweaks to a slider set to get the gameplay that you are looking for.

As far as house rules like the guy above I usually utilize a no switch rule when playing the CPU. I usually end up controlling either my MLB or my best pass rusher every play.

My best advice and I've had to tell myself this lately is that it's just a video game so there will be moments that are not what we perceive as realistic. At times I feel like reading others posts in this forum cause me to over analyze the game and takes some of the enjoyment away.

Personally for me I find making sure my CFM is challenging is just as important to me as it being realistic. I have settled on some sliders on all-madden difficulty that have really made it a pretty enjoyable experience. Even though I am currently getting my a** kicked and am about to finish a second season with a top 10 draft pick, it is going to make it that much more enjoyable when I finally take my Lions team deep in the playoffs or to a superbowl.

The hardest part to make it realistic is the ability to see the whole field. The best solution is have your children and dogs run back and forth in front of the TV at each snap. That should give you some idea of how drew brees feels.

If you want to do an Eagles CFM turn the injury slider to 200 and change all of their olinemen ratings to 60's. That should result in something pretty similar to this real life garbage we're forced to watch every week.

Try being a Lions fan, we've given up 17 sacks in the last two games. Our offensive coordinator runs one of the most archaic schemes in the league, and don't even get me started on our defense.

I use Mr Hurricane sliders, Sabo playbooks, and Xp sliders off here. Works out pretty good.
