That’s What capitalism and consumerism does. Money and PR are all that matter. All companies are this way.

WTH, can there be anything in our lives that deals with entertainment, and enjoying getting away from real life BS, that doesnt include Politics, Political Statements, or some BS Movement?

IT'S THE SAME THING.

And mods, you can still do your job and give out warnings and ban people if the political aspect of the conversation gets ugly, but disallowing the phrase "virtue signalling" when that's so clearly what's happened is...well, a few things. But I'll stop there.
It could be because "pandering" has definition and use outside of a very specific type of ad hominem and outside the arena of social justice issues.

"Virtue signaling" really doesn't.

You're right that it's being used largely as a fig leaf here. But the charged nature of the terms is different.

Politics touches every aspect of our lives. You won't escape it unless you become a hermit or die. Welcome to human society.

I just don’t agree with. A hero to some sure. A revolutionary. Sure. Martyr, no.

A mod in this thread made a food point. It is very possible that if kaepernick stats rendered him unusable in the game it probably would not have garnered any interest whatsoever. I think this is the most likely explanation. I am willing to accept this and move on from this thread, as I really think this thread is going to lead to some bans. I love OS and don’t want to lose my ability to discuss the games I love.

Kaepernick will be edited to a zero overall punter, where he will languish on the free agent list until he unceremoniously retires. Much like he is now. Not because I have any issue with him or his beliefs, because I don’t. But because I will not have my intelligence insulted

I 100% agree with you. But there are people who believe that he risked everything for the cause; when in actuality he has been paid handsomely for his role in this cause. He has made millions outside of football. That's not the definition of a martyr to me.

See, the thing is that all entertainment was always political in some form.

The NFL - what with labor unions, a hard salary cap, the concept of free agency, massive television contracts and laws surrounding those, concussion lawsuits, Draconian suspensions for recreation drug use, the idea of The Team over the individual championed by the New England Patriots ("Do Your Job"), among other things - was never an exception.

If it took Colin Kaepernick to bring the intertwining of sports and politics to your attention, he has done you a service.

81?? It’s cool he’s at least available in the game but they couldn’t just put him back in with a rating near what he left with? I’m seeing reasons to dislike EA/Tiburon more by each passing day this year. 😂

Best of luck to you, but you are conversing with people who sincerely believe that kneeling during the anthem is a political statement, but standing during it is not.

FFS the only reason the anthem even started getting shown on TV was because the DoD and the NFL cooked it up as a PR stunt.
