I don’t know why they ever went away from what PS2 did with replays. The play call select screens were on the edges of the screen and the replays and cut scenes filled the center. The play clock even stopped when showing a highlight of the play before. Shows everything without breaking the flow of the game.

So before I say something negative, I'll say something positive. An EA employee PMed me yesterday to thank me for praising their work tuning progression and it humanized the dev team to me again.

The commentary, while aging, is fairly solid if simple. I needs a good refresher session with some new stuff, but compared to previous commentary teams and even other games, it's fairly solid.

That said, I have a particular pet peeves.

No network would EVER display a graphic like this. You compare LIKE numbers. What would make sense?

These are comparable numbers and actually register as meaningful.

Started with Madden 12 where they had specific tv camera angles for every stadium. They also had stadium shots based on real NFL films positioning.

Yeah the presentation is still bad. I'm a big presentation guy and when I first remember hearing this "beyond the broadcast" thing they were trying I thought it would be cool because it's a video game and you can get more creative with how you present things as a result.

Well that hasn't worked in my opinion so, I think it's time to re-evaluate and see if you can find some ways to make it a hybrid of tv/video game broadcast or just go back to emulating a TV style broadcast. They have so many things they could do to spice it up and make it good. Talking NBA 2k or MLB The Show levels of good. I really hope they can figure it out.
