Also lets not forget Warrick Dunn 1416 yds 5,1 per carry at age 30, Kevin Faulk, Ricky Williams, many consider Barry Sanders who was 31 when he left the league to be in his prime. I say not all but there are some backs that still got a little gas in the tank at 30.

30 is the magic number for a reason. If you look at the history of NFL running backs, once they hit 30 on average they take a serious hit in production. That's a statistical fact that can't be disputed. Yes, you have some exceptions but they are few and far between. Look at Ladanian Tomlinson now, one of the best to ever do it carrying 400 times a season. Now at 30 yrs old injury riddled seasons the past couple years, and Darren Sproles is getting paid and a major factor in the offense.

Faulk and Williams can't even be in this discussion. They don't get enough carries. We are talking RBs that carried the majority of the load. And your Dunn stats are totally misleading because after that he went 1140, 720, 786 which totally justifies the dropoff EA is trying to simulate.

It also totally helped that his team lead the league in rushing or thereabouts.

Re: Player regression at 30

Running backs DO regress at warp speed after about age 30. I'm sure there's the odd exception that lasts a couple extra years or starts to fall apart earlier, but most of them are entirely out of the league by age 33 if not sooner. How many 33 year old RBs can you think of? Dunn, Taylor, and Pittman are the only three that come to mind for me, and I wouldn't be surprised if all three retire at the end of this year.

Re: Player regression at 30

RBs regressing at 30 is the norm. Just because we can name a few exceptions doesn't change that. I hope RBs to regress rapidly at 30 and i hope other players regress as well. This has been a key franchise ingredient missing from madden.

Re: Player regression at 30

Barry Foster hit the wall at like 26 or 27. Neil Anderson for the Bears dropped off in a hurry too. I think a lot of times RBs tend to hit the wall even before 30 while some can maintain success after 30 either through lack of punishment or being a genetic freak. Either way, running backs go from great to crap faster than any other position in the NFL. I don't think anyone will disagree with that.
