Re: xbox 360 SLIDERS NEAR OF PERFECTION(i think)

I have been following this thread for a while. I wanted to say thanks to all of you. Following this has helped bring back my interest. I stopped playing after NFL week 6. With that said, I like to add my 2 cents.

I went in practice mode and I adjusted the pass defense sliders. They were 72-64-72. I used the Titans and blitzed against Denver. I chose the Titans because most teams use a 4 man front. I picked Denver because Cutler isn't a top QB, but he far from being a scrub. He can also scramble which I thought would be a good choice. I wanted to see if he could escape. I believe blitzing gives you risks and rewards. So I bought all my front seven against playaction. When the INT slider was lower I would never get thru. Spread, pinch, shift, and even coming on the edge. This time instead of my shifting to one side I spread my line out. It seemed to make the gaps bigger and easier to run thru. I sacked him 9 out of 10 times. That seems right if you are bringing the house and he is doing playaction. The next play I had Denver running a standard set. 2 Wr's with RB and FB in the backfield. I got bought the house again and sacked him 7 out of 10 times. 2 passes he got out went to Bell. He was stopped pretty quickly around the line both times. The other was thrown to Marshall. He was up ended and dropped it. I like the way the defense reacted. It was fun to see Cutler running. He looked afraid! Something we havent been seeing. I say again, if you are blitzing and you get thru the line you should be rewarded with either a sack, Int, incomplete pass, or a small gain. Granted I expect some players to make plays and get huge gains or even a TD. That is the risk/reward. But if they run playaction I expect alot more rewards.

I will play a game tonight when I get back from work with stats. If anyone can play before me, please let us know how the game turned out.

I will usually let the cpu control the blitzer (Harrison,Woodley) ONLY if I see he's covering the fb.

I've found that if I control him,I don't get NEAR the amount of penetration needed to get to the qb.

When controlling the lb (Foote,Farrior) I will keep their assingments as close as to what was called.

As for your other post....I don't get the amount of sacks from my lb's as I feel I should. I mainly get my sacks from my ends (Keisel,Smith) which is...o.k,but in the 3-4 most of the sacks SHOULD come via my lb's and the occasional blitzing corners.

This is a definite problem. Orton is definitely not an elite qb....he should be around mid 50's to MAYBE 60%...and that 60 is stretching it imo.

Nice post....and welcome aboard.
This post confirms what I've been seeing as well. That damn int slider holds the key in our search fellas....lol

We need to find that "magic" level now.

OK, so lets focus on the needed INT setting. It sounds like having both REACTION and PASS RUSH set at/or near 72 is about right, so with that in mind we should only have to tweak INT for now. The last time I messed with INT I had it set at 38 (trying to keep overall pass defense at 8), but I won't worry about the overall setting anymore.

Again I want to reiterate my biggest concern with tweaking the pass defense too much. Like every other version of Madden, the CPU run game is inconsistent at best, so we need to be careful that we don't completely "nueter" the CPU pass game, or we will have killed any chance of being challenged in games versus the CPU. Set properly a strong defensive team should be able to average between 2-4 sacks per game (Pitt averaged 3 per game this NFL season).

I will play 1-2 games tomorrow morning and to start I will set pass defense sliders at 72-50-72. I will continue to use my Detroit franchise for testing and when I think it's real close, I will try a game with a stronger team like Pitt. Hopefully a few of you others can do the same so we get feedback from multiple games ......

PASSING:

Yeah, so I threw another 3 pick game. This time I made sure to keep an eye on any superman-like plays by the DBs and LBs, but everything was pretty clean. The first play of the game I threw a pick. Totally my fault. The FS was sitting in robber zone, and I decided to throw a slant over the middle. NOT SMART. I threw another one in the 3rd quarter when I was trying to force a long ball to Bruce. My last one was on the last drive of the game, when I was forced to pass.

As you can tell M. Ryan played like he was going to the electric chair tomorrow morning. He literally picked my defense apart. I threw pretty much everything I had at him. Man, Zone, Man Blitz, Zone Blitz, CB Blitz, S Blitz. This guy was unstoppable, and it really pissed me off. It seemed like he was always a step ahead no matter what. Perfect profile for typical RoboQB play. Keep in mind, this was at the 50 INT slider setting along with 72 for Pass Rush/Reaction Time. Even with the INT slider set that high, I didn't see any significant notice in pass rush, especially when I blitzed. The first sack was on a botched QB draw by ATL, so I really don't even count that as a sack. The other two were legit, I guess, but the pass rush was definitely something of note (more like the lack thereof).

Wanna know the most disgusting bit of RoboQB BS in this game????

The game is tied at 10 with 4 mins left in the game. I'm forced to punt because I suck. I pin ATL at their 4 F***ING YARD LINE!!! I'm like, okay, they'll have to try and at least make some room for their punter. My defense had played relatively well the entire game against the run, so I liked my chances. HA!!! Nope. Time for RoboQB Ryan to take over!!! The dude drove them 96 f***ing yards down the field for the go ahead TD. Okay, I understand that stuff is possible. Elway's done it, Montana's done it, Young's done it, Brady's done it, Mannning's done it.... BUT, WERE TALKING A ROOKIE QB THAT DOESN'T MISS A PASS ON THE ENTIRE DRIVE AND THROWS THE GO AHEAD TD PASS OFF HIS BACK FOOT!?!?!? LOL!!! It's so disgusting, it's funny.

RUNNING:

* Nothing much to speak of here. I shut down Michael Turner. Not sure how that happened. It's not like the guy rushed for 1,600 yards or anything this season.... I'll chalk it up to a good game by my defense, because the other two games that I played, the CPU did just fine. At least it wasn't for a lack of effort, ATL still fed him the ball 20 times without success.

My running game could've been a lot better. I decided that I was going to try and establish my pass game this game, while sustaining drives with the run. Yeah... we can all see how that turned out. Next time, I'm running a more balanced attack. I got killed in T.O.P.

DEFENSE:

* Nothing really to note here either. The picks that ATL got on me were legit. I made horrible decisions AGAIN. Sooner or later, after I lose a ton of games in a row, I'll have to learn not to try and force every pass I throw (can anybody say Brett Favre??).

As previously stated, my Pass D was non existent. I don't think I have to rant any further on that. If we were looking for the magic number, I'm pretty sure 50 isn't it based on this performance. However, I'm still interested to see what results other test games will yield.

Pass Rush is still questionable. Yes, I did get sacks, but there was not any sort of consistent pressure at all. I didn't even notice Ryan holding onto the ball any longer than he was when we had INT at 24. Perhaps raising the INT slider more will help with this??? After reading Kensaku's post, it seemed like he saw some good results when he went into practice mode.

I'm thinking that we should start with INT at 50, but I'm getting a hunch that we'll have to raise it significantly in order to start seeing results. Keep in mind, even with it at 50, I was nowhere even remotely close to getting a pick. Not even close.....

Sorry for the rant guys.... I guess it's just one of those nights.

I'll be hard on it tomorrow though. I'm anxious to see what results you guys have tomorrow while I'm at work.

Cheers.

Re: xbox 360 SLIDERS NEAR OF PERFECTION(i think)

ok fellas,I got a couple of games in.
I'm going to first concentrate on what I seen. In my first game I played the Super Bowl, and in the first half Warner lit me up!
He was 12/16 156 yds and 75%. So in the secon half,I made some changes....I put rea to 80,int-72 and rush 72...the results??
Well considering the Cards only had 1 possession in the 3rd,Warner finished the game 14/23 183yds 1td and 2 ints.

The Steelers pulled out the win 24-13

So...I then wanted to try these against a bad team...so I played Detroit, and after knocking Orlovsky out early in the 2nd,at which time he was doing good going 5/7 45 yds and 71%.

Culpepper entered the game...and ALL hell broke loose...lol The Steeler defense was all up in his face..lol
He finished the game 6/17 for 51yds 8int 35%.

So...the int slider is something that will be explored further. On the other hand,I hope we can do something about the cpu running game. In the Detroit game,I held Kevin Smith to 14yds on 13 carries.
The hum running game felt pretty damn good though...I struggled early in the Cards game, but against the Lions I was able to run free.
I know it's still early so to speak in the testing...but I think we've learned some valuable info that when once tweaked, will give us a pretty good playing game.

This is EXACTLY what I witnessed as well. That's why I went ahead and bumped it up...maybe a little to high based on my game against Detroit

I think it's going to come down to the reaction slider and int slider imo,a combination of those 2,SHOULD give us the results we're after.
