Re: Coach Mode Sliders based on Mike32Ownz's sliders

Just played a game tonight with your current version of sliders, but...... I set the Broken Tackles slider to 37.

Steelers (Me) 41
Bills (Com) 14 Final

Roethlisberger- 16-27 / 283 yards
Mendenhall- 33 car. / 154 yards / 3 TD's (59 long)
DEFENSE- 4 sacks total

Bills, nothing worth mentioning. It was just a good team crushing a crappy team.

I think the slider setting for INT's, should be set to a lower number. Like around 10 perhaps??? In my slider set, the lower the number, the more realistic the INT's seemed to be. That was my mistake the first time around. The higher the number in the sub categories the harder it becomes. I think????
All in all, Sack totals seemed realistic, passing and even running for the most part. Interceptions were the only thing missing, for both teams.

I think you're close to a great COACHING slider set my friend. I'll play more and get back with ya.

Re: Coach Mode Sliders based on Mike32Ownz's sliders

I have updated the first post. Changes are based on Mike32Ownz latest update and goes along with the suggestion of Elway7 of lowering the Broken Tackles a few notches.

I have only played one game with these with the Cowboys beating the Saints 34-24. Stats were realistic with Romo passing for 298 yards, Brees for over 320 with 66% completion pct. Barber had 25 carries for 125yds, Jones ran for 36 yards on 9 carries. Each team had 2 to 3 sacks.

There were big plays but only a few and the game was clinched on an int on the Cowboys 1 yard line with 1:50 left.

How fast you call plays should determine how many minutes to set your quarters, but if you use gameflow, I would suggest 13 minute quarters. If you call your own plays and the clock normally runs down to just a few seconds then you may be able to go with 15 min qtrs.

Thanks! I guess that I was typing my last post about the time you were posting this so I had not seen what you had to say about the interceptions. So far, I haven't had many at 35 but I will monitor that going forward and let me know what you find. I appreciate and need all the input that I can get. The number of games that I can play is limited so the more we all can test the better.

I'll keep you posted. I only get to play like a game or two every night, myself.

After so many years of madden I never actually bothered to ask. What is coach mode? lol I always got it confused with CPU vs CPU

Mike,
It's just where you play as one team, but you just call the plays, snap the ball and let them play out without controlling the players in any way. It's like a simulation game where how good or bad you might be with the sticks has no effect on the outcome. That's it in a nutshell.

Oops, I just read your post again and realized that was probably more of a retorical question and that you had probably figured it out already. lol. It is fun, as is playing which I do that as well. But honestly, I'm not too good.

I have not tried this, so I guess I am going to have to but, I was wondering how this plays out, it would seem like you must get a lot of fumbles (like one or more per qtr), a lot broken tackles, and suction blocks in addition to high running gains. Also would seem like the cpu would run better then you. I enjoy coach mode myself, but understanding the purpose of each slider it seems that the sliders are too high. Again everyone plays to there own liking and I am not knocking these sliders as I have not even played it with this set, but I just wonder if they are a little too high for the passing and running game.

With sliders set at 85, I have seen less fumbles (No more than 3 for both teams combined) and the best nfl team last year was at .7 and the worst something like 2.2. So two to three per game would be about right. On page 66 post #653 of Mike32Ownz's Sliders post, Mike writes about the fumble slider being basically opposite of what you think and how changing it from 60 to 85 had reduced the fumbles.

As for the running game, I really don't see a difference between the Human and CPU in running ability and don't know why you would when they have the same numbers and the processor is controlling the runner and not a human. There will be broken tackles but usually nothing abnormal, but there has to be a little give and take in order to get stats that are somewhat realistic. We all have to remember that it is a computer generated game and as good as it is visually, will probably never be where every play looks exactly like real life. The best we can hope for is games that seem to flow realisticly and are fun with realistic stats.

What I am seeing in the running game is my runs being of yards of 4, 5, 9, -1, 3, 6, 4, 15, -2 with an occasional 50+ yarder every few or more games (but not every game). In the past years I have seen it so bad that I may have a whole bunch of negative runs or very short 1 to 2 yard gains with an 80 yard run that may have made the stats look good but was not realistic. This year and with these sliders it has seemed to have much more of a natural flow.

Back to CPU v.s. human running game, I feel like I run the ball better than the CPU most games, mainly because I call more running plays than the CPU does. I have mostly tested against the Saints, Vikes and Broncos and AP will run for over 100 usually with an occasional 200 but when I play the Saints, Thomas is usually at 75, sometimes more, sometimes less and Moreno will be at say 60 to 75 with Buckhalter getting about 30 for Denver.

One thing that I do is call line adjustments and blitz's and I don't know how other coach moders may play. I have seen that have good results at slowing the running game down when it is hot, but it still doesn't stop it completely.

Sorry for the long post, just wanting to explain what I have noticed in my games. Everyone is different and depending on play calling and if you do line adjustments will get different results.

Thanks for posting here and let me know what you find when you try them. As I mentioned in the first post, I don't claim to be an expert and am just trying to get the best games I can.
