Anyone who doesn't like the prospect of 9-player gang tackle is crazy

It can be any combination of players, it is dynamic, and yes there's more than just guys standing in a huddle chopping their feet. I don't know how much more I can say, so I'm going to stop there.

Seeing the 9-man gang tackle in person is just bananas. It helps with some of the major issues of the game in the past so much.

This might be the biggest addition to the defense so far in next gen.

I can only imagine how many tackles I have missed with 3-4 guys standing right next to the ball carrier. It is going to be fun earning yards this year.

On just about every goal line or 3rd-n-1 or 4th-n-1 situation involving a running play up the middle or a QB sneak when the defense is in goal line formation.


That's when you see the majority of gang tackles.


I also see them on some broken running plays when the RB is dancing around in the backfield and the whole defense is basically collapsing in on him.

Anytime a ball carrier is slowed down and doesn't go to to ground right away there will probably be enough time for the nearest players to run over and help the other tacklers.

AH - but they don't push the BALL CARRIER - they push the OPPOSING TACKLERS, who in turn are pushing the ball carrier.

An offensive player can't grab and push his own teammate forward - but he can push an opposing player who's in the process of trying to tackle his teammate, like was shown in the Madden video.

John Runyan doesn't push Westbrook himself on those plays mentioned above - Runyan pushes the tackler - as if he's trying to block him off Westbrook. It just winds up pushing the whole pack of gang tacklers forward
