Will the good zone coverage guys really stand out this year while the bad ones will get burned?
In the early build the backers did not respond like I would have wanted, but since then I've received update they are good to go. In zone coverage now the linebackers will actually collision and release a WR to the next defender. If you flood a zone most likely the defender is going to collision and release.

yea the D gets absolutely no love. It's getting to the point where I have to pick the same play over and over. but it would be cool if we could choose where our D-linemen go, then choose what your linebackers will do, then choose what zones-man-blitzes your secondary will run. Sure it might take more time to choose a defensive play, but It would be amazing

Custom Defensive playbooks are a must. At a minimum, all of the fronts that each team runs should be in. They have added a lot of personnel packages such as the Pats 1-5-5 Nickel. Hopefully we will see this sooner than later!

All the fronts that every team runs will not be in. There will be some additional ones this year though.

So they don't just let receivers run free into the seams? That sounds good if true.

this is a really interesting idea that we should discuss further. for the D line, I've always wanted a hot-route type ability to tell them to do a stunt, on any play. stunts are such a common practice among dominant D lines. i know it might really open up gaping holes against the run on certain defenses, but hey that's up to us to call the right D and not create those gaping holes.. but then again, you see this all the time in the NFL, where a DE/DT do a stunt and one area opens up for the back and he picks up good yards.

also, I'd love to be able to tell the LBs, fill the gaps and go stand on the LOS. hopefully to cause confusion on the O line. or tell the MLB to dive over the line on goal line to meet the diving HB in mid-air. stuff like that would make the game more interesting.

all of this assuming the AI is right and doesn't open up glitches (but isn't that the case with every idea?)

Re: madden playbook

I felt this was still one of the biggest soar spots. IMO, the defensive playbook is dead until they implement tiered play calling. I doubt they could ever get enough plays in to make up for that. There are not enough of even the simplest combinations. A man cover team like Philly does so many things in front of their man coverages. I doubt there are more than 10 man defenses in Philly's 4-3 sets. There are 7 different LB blitz combinations alone... times DB blitz combinations, times stunt combinations...

Offensively, there needs to be many more plays, and many existing plays need to be duplicated in similar formations. No reason I should have to be in the 'I' to run an iso, but have to go 'strong I' to run off tackle and 'weak I' to run a counter. I don't remember the playbooks exactly, so please don't tell me the 'I' does have an off tackle play. My point is that most run plays from the 'I' should also be in the strong & weak versions as well. And vice versa.

A team like Philly should have screen plays from EVERY formation. I should never have to back out of a formation to search for a screen in their playbook.

Goal line plays on both offense & defense need help. At least another front is needed on defense. And there needs to be more than one formation on offense.

And special teams needs a lot of help as well. Basics like overloading the middle for a FG block were still missing.

Didn't someone mention that there's a disk space issue?
