honestly you dont need a VOICE telling you that are 1st and 10. i think you can do the same affect if they have it flash in the middle of the screen and make it pump like a heart beat before teams go to the line of scrimmage.

kinda like what 2k does when a INT or FUMBLE occurs but put some life into it.

Not to me.
I like to feel like I'm watching/playing a live Broadcast.
Cant have that without commentary.
Big plays made even more "BIG" with the excitement of broadcasters


Look me in my face and tell this emotion by the broadcaster (especially at the :55 mark) dosent add to the excitement of the play.
You cant.
Of course we're a Looooooooooooooong way from reaching this point with Hammond in Madden, but damn if we should stop trying to get there at some point.

yes it is necessary.

but for those you don't like it (like yourself), it is nice to have as an option to turn it off.

No reason to take it out of the game for the 98% of people that like it though.

Absolutely it is necessary. If sports games delete commentary it will be a major step backward. APF 2K8, The Show, and UFC all have excellent commentary and add a major immersion factor to the game.
