I'll tell you this much. It's still in the game if you edit a player's position, he doesn't progress. Change a OLB to an DE or LE to RE, it's curtains, he doesn't progress.

That sucks. What if I just up (Shaun Hill / Alex Smith) or lower (Sopoaga) rating, but leave them at the same position?

Yea, this would be a good issue to test out pretty extensively so we can find an almost definite answer. Or if we could hear an answer from one of the devs that would be even better.
