Re: Missing features from previous Maddens

We really need these ones back-

-Ability to bump individual Wr's
-Shade Wr's
-Smart zones for defense-cover first down marker
-Full roster subs and special teams-Why is my starting CB playing gunner?
-EA locker
-Play creator

Re: Missing features from previous Maddens

Lets not forget, previous Maddens also had about 100 more teams (classic teams). That's important for guys like me, who tire of the same 32 (five of which people actually use online).

Sure, someone will post "Jim Brown suit"...but remember, Jim's suit is about there being a dark skin-toned player wearing #32 on the "All time Browns". EA had scrambled the numbers of the classic players even before this suit. He's suing about an OLDER Madden version.

But we haven't had classic teams in years. EA could reverse the skin tones and have the numbers off by one and be in the clear. Just let us edit like with NCAA (but also with the numbers).

Re: Missing features from previous Maddens

I'm sorry but the "Vision Cone" was a horrible feature (even the name sounds stupid). It's like the QB running around on the field with a giant flashlight. How realistic is that? I'm glad it was removed--and hope it never comes back. That single feature is what ruined Madden for me and I haven't bought another game since.

I was actually one of the few to enjoy using the vision cone. Added some difficulty to the passing game. Really helped defend against cheesers using Fast QB's with no arms. I remember Michael Vicks cone was the size of a toothpick.

Re: Missing features from previous Maddens

Owner mode, Create a Stadium, the Cone 9qb vision), Camps, Create a Play & Playbook are the best features I wish made a return, but I want a true create a stadium feature in owner mode, not some "create-a-generic-stadium" feature like what was on the PS2 & in create a team mode.

I remember reading when owner mode was first introduced that it said in the create a stadium part of it the options were unlimited, and you could create 1000s and 1000s of different looking stadiums, heck I think they said like billions of options for different looking stadiums, I swear they must of had some real major ideas for create a stadium mode, like really being able to mix and match the best stuff from stadiums to make your own.

But heck that turned out to be one of the biggest let downs. Instead you could only create a bunch of generic looking stadiums that looked about like the Silver Dome or HHH Metro Dome at best, Maybe Texas Stadium, none the less it was very bare bones limited, and of course was never touched after they added it, and it kept the same looking menus and everything, no different then now.

Sad though how many features have come and gone, most of which were great, or great on paper, and could of been even great had they just been TOUCHED a 2nd time instead of only added and left wayside.

Re: Missing features from previous Maddens

For sure there are so many features/things from the previous games which aren't there now and that is a shame and as the OP said, that fact basically amounts to the features being a failure if they don't carry forward which is a shame as many of the previous features listed were solid. I guess the biggest problem is the dev team is going for the mainstream/casual gamer now instead of trying to better the depth for the hardcore players since most of the features that are out were more for the hardcore guys.

I could have sworn that on the last gen games they had the draft picks for both the current and following drafts to be able to be traded but not now. Then you had the interest level for contracts which was useful, the ability (I think) to set up how the contract would be (front/back load, etc) which was a nice feature.

I just wish that the current Madden team would bring back many of these things already listed rather than continually making changes to things like the menu layout WHICH DO NOT NEED TO CHANGE. Seriously, what was wrong with the layout of madden 10 that they had to waste time on this new one which seems to be worse?

At times I just wonder if they purposely spend time tweaking things like the menu layout and other fluff features just to have the excuse of why they won't add in features from last gen which soooooo many have been asking for.

My main desire is to have the owner mode and more advanced franchise from last gen since I am a chise junkie. I know they said they are going to totally revamp franchise mode for next year's game but quite honestly I am concerned with that simply because I have already seen things in Madden 11 be broken that were fine last year so if they can't get simple things like the menu music playlist working properly how are they going to deliver a bug free totally new franchise mode?

I'd like to meet the so-called game testers that EA hires since I continually notice more little issues in their games than with any other company.. I'm at the point with their games that I'll do game testing for them for free just so I won't have to shake my head when I start playing a game and see such little issues (ie the insane grammatical issues in the comments by recruits in ncaa 11 like the "your/you're" issue, 'then' being used instead of 'than'...) that easily should have been spotted from a person being paid to spot them.

I really don't care for skill drills/VT, what I care about is Franchise mode. It has been a problem since Madden moved to next gen. Every developer since Madden '06 has known this and not one of them has done much to change it. Ian and Co. entered the last two years knowing that was one of the biggest gripes with the Madden Nation and still they say "not now, soon maybe." That's a cop-out and anyone that tries to excuse it, well. I don't know how you can excuse someone telling you a broken piece of their product isn't worth fixing.
I am pretty sure Ian has mentioned that they list all the features they want to add in a year, and the PR and Marketing guys decide what they must do that year. I think the team has progressed a lot the past few years. Like PG said, I put in Madden 09 a few weeks ago, and couldn't stand to play it for more than 5 minutes, it was that bad. You start to appreciate all the changes when you look back at the game play and graphics from just a few years ago.
