Madden 12 grass needs work

Turf is strange when you actually look at it. Some of it actually does look like that when the light hits it at certain angles. I know that's how the turf they play on for the Washington State High School championship looks as well. I think if anything, EA is just somewhat exaggerating that effect. Except in Minnesota where it works perfectly that way.

Some teams do have that grass/turf with the black pebbles, like the Giants, which could be what they are going for in some instances. I don't know. Still looks blotchy and weird in their interpretation.

Hopefully it's as you say Bronco and it's just the cell phone cameras, but somehow I doubt it.

Go back to page one and watch about 30 seconds on that second video of M12 E3. That grass is almost GLOWING. Look at the Falcon's jersey. There is actual pink coming out of that color. That's not Madden, that's the video camera that's being used to record that. Compare it to the grass I linked above. The grass above isn't like that.

Edit: Also, that third video of Backbreaker is not a fair video. It's poor quality taken from a tube TV, with even a light glare coming off the screen. We're dealing with motion blur.

Just like other sports games, certain details like this I simple don't notice when playing BUT if they can get it better then I'm fine with it. I would love to see the ground get torn up and clumps of grass everywhere when warranted. I'd much more notice that.
Would you guys rather have that instead of just a better looking grass?
I have absolutely no clue about the programming that goes into it but I'd bet we'd see "due to the complexity of the grass and realistic look we've achieved, having the grass/ground torn up etc.. Would require more power than we can currently get with today's consoles"

I could be wrong though. So I guess my question is which would you rather have?
I'd love to have realistic clumps of dirt over the current 'turn brown over time' system.
Of course the artificial stuff would be what it is....

I have no doubt that some of it can be attributed to cell phone cams, I just don't think all of it is, as grass has been a little weird when I played it at home also, and my TV is calibrated.

I don't know maybe that's something they may need to develop new tech for. Either way the textures they're using now aren't exactly representative of the real thing. I know some are mentioning that the uneven colors of the grass may be attributed to the cameras being used. I highly doubt that, as I can notice it on my TV at home as well.

I'd like both lol.

The field tearing up is extremely cool, but the grass just is. Field degredation is great, but can also be overdone and seem fake. Not saying I don't want it, just that there is a worn side to that coin as well.

The grass isn't a big deal at all, but if they can fix it easily, I'd love for them to do so.

I would rather they just made it one shade of green and used the visual assets eleswhere if it came down to it as well.
