I think it needs to be just a little less vibrant and it would be okay.

Which picture/video are you referring to?

Re: Madden 12 grass needs work

Well, I did a lot of looking at Madden 12 videos. A lot of the fields look better. Not all perfect, and some are still pretty bad, but it looks like(at least from some off video cameras) that there was some improvement. I will have to wait for the demo to really see just how much. I think they could still be better. They have to at least get rid of the patchy, blotchy look unless it is correctly done for that field(only a very few have this type look at all)

The Cleveland vs Atlanta video Steve just posted looks better then I have ever seen that stadium look. The Vikings stadium field seams to need work though.

Yup, and I think that's the core of the issue: the details we are accustomed to seeing on TV come out so much better when the field is a consistent color.

Look at Hillis with his arm raised, look at the acceleration step of Cribbs downfield...even look at the player shadows. That stuff is already ingame and it looks great!

But the human eye can't pick up those details when it's on a spattered black and brown background. The field doesn't always have to be that same shade of green that the Seattle pic is, but it needs to be A shade, without background spraypaint clutter.

I'm optimistic since some are saying that this has already been improved for '12, and I think the art team can catch on rather quickly and tweak the fields that still look fake, as long as they are aware of the issue.

Exactly. Look at that video. Notice how the grass actually makes the players and entire game better. I have no idea why EA has put so much extra colors in there grass. It actually hurt the visuals, and took away resources that could be used towards sideline/field degration/weather effects if possible down the road.

I apologize, it was the Jets and Atlanta.

http://www.operationsports.com/forum...denmatrix.html

But it shows the Atlanta field like I mentioned. Notice how this year they used a darker green to blotch up the field? It looks much better then the black spots from last year. As long as they don't use too dark of a green(appears black on many TV sets) they will be ok.

Maddens colors were all out of wack with proper TV settings last year. Hopefully this is fixed. That would really help also.
