Madden 13: Buy or No Buy

I'll just wait for the hype to be done. And wait for the madden 13 bugs start flying around I'll just say I told you so. EA is the master of hype. Of course all their videos look good, hey would sell squatted they showed crap. It seems to be the same thing every year: no I won't buy it, give the same people six months, and the same ones are on the bandwagon.

I will be surprised if you are telling people I told you so this year honestly. When Sim and Smitty of TSS said Madden 12 was a 4/10 and that 13 is a solid 8-8.5 after playing it last week at community day that was a little bit of an eye opener. Those guys are legit and know their stuff. Until I heard that I probably was a little more skeptical and still am to a degree because of EA's track record, but I highly value their opinion. Like they said though we have to wait and form our own opinions not just take what they say, even if it is a good sign.

It's a definite buy from me. I loved Madden 12 and don't find it too difficult to look past its flaws. I personally don't use the fantasy draft feature, coop, or custom rosters, although I do occasionally use the editing players feature, so those omissions aren't too big of a deal for me. However, I completely sympathize with those of you who find those elements to be essential to an enjoyable madden experience. Hopefully, they can implement them back in next year.
I am, however, just a tad worried about the progression system being unbalanced, especially for those who play on harder difficulties. Defensive stats for human-controlled teams always seem to be far worse than those of CPU teams in franchise and I'm afraid this might lead to unrealistic goals for defensive players on the human controlled team and therefore less XP being awarded. Then again, I suppose it can't be worse than having players with fixed potentials, essentially making every player's future predetermined and predictable...

Still on the fence about the game. Its more too me than just physics, the line play and interactions are key and if OPI/DPI will be called realistically in the game. Madden12 lasted 2 month for me and these two things did it for me. So I will be asking the community thoroughly about these two things. If there in Madden is worth $65, if not I'll save and hopefully Madden 14 will do it correctly.

Typically a 1st day buy for me.

There is nothing that I have seen so far that would NOT make it a first day buy this year.

All the things that are missing don't really effect me, as I'm mainly an online franchise player.

With all the upgrades like Infinity Engine, Connected Careers and passing trajectories its a definite buy for me. I hope that the OL/DL interaction and locomotion get a serious upgrade in Madden 14 but I can live with the improvements I've seen so far.

Plus, I've got a great sim online league that's still going on so a day one buy for Madden 13 is a must.

There's an option that says "Rent".
