Re: A hardcore Simulation player's view of Madden...

I'm really thinking that people are losing faith in Madden because of the lack of a cohesion in the development planning.

I think people are spot on when new leadership comes aboard, a previous development plan is blown up and it seems to happen in a three year cycle dating back to the agreement.

How can you start trusting a company that changes direction every three years? It's difficult to say, this is phase 1 of the three year plan.

Based on past history, losing patience is becoming the norm, when a company should be going all out to repair some of that lost trust from the past.

What can the new leadership prove to the buying customer base that they are on the right track and we keep it on the right path without blowing up this one?

Help us help you.

My biggest gripe with this years Madden is how they don't seem to care about offline gamers that much. I hate playing online since 90 percent of the players cheat or quit.
Exactly. I HATE playing online due to how 'arcade' it is.
Sure halftime shows and weekly reports would be nice. Which leads me to my next gripe... doesn't the art department deal with those things? Why do we still lack any real-time presentation aspects? If their excuse is that they are working on gameplay, that doesn't really make sense as I am under the impression that a different department in the Madden production team would be dealing with it.

great post. perfectly worded. Question tho.. didn't cam webber say Madden 12 was phase 1? i thought i had read it in an interview. Anyway, I get a very arrogant feeling from EA. ESPECIALLY tiburon. I constantly tweet questions to EA NHL's guys and get real responses. But with madden I feel like we are all left in the weeds. Like last year when they said the biggest thing people asked for was the green dot on the helmets... ummm what?

Good thing since Replays are messed up. You get blitzed up the middle and make a great throw standing in and taking a shot, your receiver makes a great catch on the ball. The replay comes up and you get to see a zoomed in shot of your receiver going off the line, then a zoomed in shot of the QB's upper body (cant see anything around him, no blitz/pressure, no standing in and taking the shot), then it cuts to a zoomed in shot of the receivers upper body right as the ball is hitting his hands (you dont get to see him running, or jumping).

You see no route running, no ball flights, nothing about the pocket around the QB, and you see almost none of the catch animations. Replays/Cut scenes are broken.

and that is just 1 SMALL thing that kills the real immersion of nfl football from the game.

Eh, I don't count last year as Cam's year, even if he does.

He came in February, halfway through the cycle.

Still, they need to reach out to the consumer more, like what you are doing with the NHL guys on Twitter.

I see guys like Rgiles and EmmotFrisk lately trying to answer questions and engage in conversation, and I like that.

Hope that continues.

Yea, I generally don't care much at all for presentation aspects... My one request for presentation would be the ability to skip past it faster. I want to play the game not watch it...

That said, the auto replays are a big step back from M11/12. While I would almost never watch them anyways, and if I made a great play that I wanted to see again I just pause and go into manual replay mode... but damn... it's pretty embarrassing to take such a big step back.

I think they should do it like The Show does it. In the visual settings have a Fast-play & a True Broadcast option. Fast play would limit replays and stuff for people like yourself that want to play the game quickly. While true broadcast would be real-time presentation. One can dream..
